Here at The Bali Sun, we are all about this local life. We love hanging out at local coffee shops and at the classic warungs. This week, one of Bali’s most esteemed wedding and events venues has opened a new authentic Indonesian-style buffet restaurant that has got the seal of approval of the local community, and we know The Bali Sun readers are going to love it too.

The new Baka Restaurant was officially launched on Monday, 20th June, at Taman Prakerti Bhuana, just outside of Ubud. The restaurant, which is open to the general public, not just event venue guests, is inspired by traditional family dining and offers a menu with local, Indonesian, and international dishes, including an “All You Can Eat” buffet package for IDR 85,000 per person.

Taman Prakerti Bhuana is a high-end events venue that hosts many of Bali’s biggest weddings and traditional ceremonies, including the Metatah, which is the coming-of-age tooth-filing ceremony that all young Balinese Hindus participate in before the age of 18.

The team at Taman Prakerti Bhuana wanted to create a restaurant that would be open to families and communities attending ceremonies and events at the venue and be a place where locals and tourists can dine together.

Owner Ida Bagus Mangku Adi Supartha told reporters, “With this restaurant, after the ceremony is over, the family can immediately eat together and entertain guests in a comfortable place.”

The team has really pulled out all the stops to create a dining experience that covers all bases! Baka Restaurant’s  “All You Can Eat” buffet package is priced at IDR 85,000 per person. The package includes seven main courses, a salad bar, a soup bar, a variety of meatballs, a daily special, snacks, coffee, and tea.

Supartha told reporters that the restaurant offers 133 menu options, combining local, Indonesian, and Western dishes. Approximately 99 dishes are served daily, with additional specials according to the ceremonies and events hosted at the venue, whether that be birthday parties, gala dinners, community gatherings, or corporate events.

The new kitchen is managed by a local chef with experience working in top hotels and restaurants in Dubai and Macau. Supartha proudly highlighted how this experience is combined with local flavors to ensure the menu is accessible to a wide range of customers.

Baka Restaurant will be serving breakfast from 6 am to 10 am, while the buffet will be available from 10 am to 9 pm daily.

Supartha told reporters that the name “Baka” was chosen to honor the history of Dalem Baka, which is linked to the origins of the Beng region where the restaurant is located.”

“The philosophy embodies a spirit of respect for history while also being part of the economic development and tourism destination of eastern Gianyar Regency.
