The end of October is upon us, and Christmas and the New Year are just around the corner. New Year’s Eve is a big deal in Bali.
The island’s biggest entertainment venues pull out all the stops and book incredible headliners to call the new year in. In Ubud, this is no exception. In a true Ubudain way, Zest will be hosting its Alegria 2025 NYE Festival.
The Alegria 2025 NYE Festival will be a celebration of life, love, and expression. As attendees are called to breathe in the magic, the plant-based restaurant Zest will be transformed into a festival playground with four stages and some of the world’s best medicine music and world music performers taking to the mic.
Over the course of the evening, more than fifty artists will play across four stages: the Magic Garden Stage, Dragon Tea Temple, Zest Stage, and Labyrinth Stage. Celebrants will be invited to explore and activate their senses with world-class talent.
Porangui has been confirmed as this year’s headline act. Regarded as one of the world’s best ecstatic dance DJs and world music productions, he is known as “a musician, healer, and producer who weaves ancestral songs and indigenous rhythms from around the world to create transformative musical experiences.”
Ubud favorites Hanuman Project have also been booked for the Alegria 2025 NYE Festival. Hanuman Project is a grassroots and cutting-edge devotional music ensemble that creates powerful, enigmatic kirtan and sacred chanting circles that unite the community and open the hearts of all who attend.
Blick Bassy, a Bassa singer-songwriter, all the way from Cameroon, has also been an exciting headliner announcement.
Best known for tracks like Mama, Woñi, and Kaät, Black Bissy weaves together his angelic lyrics, delicate guitar harmonies, and synthesizer melodies with sober bras arrangements for a modern African soul, folk, and electrofusion that will set the perfect tone to call the New Year in.
The first wave of early bird tickets has already sold out. Ubudians or incoming New Year’s visitors who want to be at the Alegria celebration of music, dance, and devotion will need to book tickets soon as this event is bound to sell out.
The second wave of super early bird tickets is now available for IDR 1,545,000 per person. Tickets will increase in price ahead of the event, with regular tickets set to be sold for DIR 2,575,000.
The Alegria Festival at Zest is one of the biggest New Year’s events in Ubud, which typically has a quieter New Year’s party scene compared to the beach resort of the islands south.
Tickets for the biggest events the resort has to offer are already booked down in Canggu. Atlas Beach Club has already confirmed that R&B legend Akon will be calling the New Year at what is set to be the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in Bali, the biggest beach club in the world.
Akon is expected to perform a live set with ticket holders already excited to hear classics such as Smack That, featuring Eminem; I Wanna Love You, featuring Snoop Dogg; and The Sweet Escape with Gwen Stefani.
At Finns Beach Club, tickets are already on sale for the most popular New Year’s Eve event in Bali, and Flume has been announced as one of the main headline acts.
Finns usually keep the full line-up headline acts under wraps until the last minute but always secure an array of incredible artists; previous years have included the likes of Diplo and Fatboy Slim.
Tourists planning on being in Bali for New Year should start planning ahead of time. With over a million tourists arriving on the island for the Christmas and New Year period, hotels, hostels, villas, and resorts hike prices and get fully booked out.
The biggest parties and events also get booked up far in advance. Most events sell tickets via platforms like Megatix, which allows attendees to purchase tickets even if they are currently outside of Indonesia.

A repeat of last year’s year fiasco 2 days prior leading up to the New Year in Bali, NO THANKS. People were leaving and coming at the same time on December 30th, 2023, using the only airport on the island. It was a volume of Homo sapiens and a traffic disaster at the same time.
Anyone in the right mind (both foreign and local) who owns a Rental Property in Bali would probably have a hard decision to shut or open voluntarily leading up to the new year. In my opinion, having the place to shut down is a smart way to avoid the place to be trashed with guests that may be under the influence of heavy alcohol and substance abuse. The decision still fall on his or her individual decision as property owners to shut or open for the new year. But some property owners may be greedy for money. It’s a fact of life! However, it’s still not worth it to pay for the damages thereafter even if you ask for “incidentals deposit” in advance from the New Year guests.
To each their own!! It is NOT my cup of tea to stay in Bali around the days leading up to the New Year. And certainly not having the patience for an ugly mass crowd and traffic congestion in particular during those few days before and after the New Year. NO WAY!!! Sigh...
