Without a doubt, Bali is one of the best places in the world to learn to surf.

With a wide range of beginner breaks, world championship-worthy surf, incredible instructors, and great affordability, there is a reason why learning to surf in Bali has been at the top of so many traveler’s bucket lists for decades.

Learning to surf in Bali has just got easier and more luxurious. While bumming around surf shacks on Legian and Seminyak Beach is one way to get to grips with surf culture, there is something to be said for retreating to a luxury hotel room after a long day out on the water.

InterContinental Bali Resort has just announced a new partnership with surf icon Rip Curl to bring exceptional surf schooling to Jimbaran Bay.

The new surf school sessions are open for absolute beginners, rusty-but-on-the-way borders, and experienced surfers seeking some advice on skills refinement.

Of course, in true InterContinental Bali Resort style, there is yet more on offer, too. Guests can now enjoy a wide range of watersport activities, from kite surfing to stand-up paddle, sea kayaking, body boarding, e-foiling, and wind wing sessions.

The gentle, consistent waves and tides of Jimabaran Bay make it the perfect location for vacation-level aquatic sports adventures.

In a press statement, the General Manager of the beachfront InterContinental Bali Resort, Bruno Cristol, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Rip Curl, a brand that has become synonymous with global surf culture, to offer our guests an unforgettable experience.”

He added, “This partnership reflects our commitment to creating exceptional, adventure-filled memories in the stunning natural surroundings of Jimbaran Bay.”

Jimbaran is an often overlooked resort area in Bali, yet with beachfront access, a short drive to the airport, and situated just a short drive from Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, Uluwatu, and Nusa Dua, Jimbaran is a fantastic option for beach lovers who want a central location from which to explore Bali’s most famous coastlines.

Rip Curl Surf School is one of the most highly regarded surf schools in all of Bali, offering access to top-notch coaching and incredible surf and water sports equipment.

The school has been operating in Bali since 1998 and has surf camps across the southern coast of the island.

For those not staying at the InterContinental Bali Resort in Jimbaran, learning to surf with Rip Curl School of Surf is still a possibility.

With surf camps in Sanur and central Kuta, at Mamaka by Ovo, there are plenty of options for Bali lovers to get out on the water with world-class instructors.

While the new partnership with InterContinental Bali Resort offers guests lessons and water sports experiences, over in Kuta, the Rip Curl School of Surf Mamaka by Ovo is the only fully certified and registered IKO (Int. Kite Org), ISA (International Surfing Association) SUP, and surf school in Indonesia, making it the number one surf hotel in Bali.

Surf Camp packages at Mamaka by Ovo range from 3-9 nights, including guided surf lessons and equipment, a Balinese massage, and airport transfers.

Additional surf services that can be added to the package are private surf lessons, ‘surfari’ boat trips, and surfboard rentals.

Stand Up Paddle tutorage is also incredibly popular, with lessons on offer for a range of skill levels.

Level one focuses on flat water paddling on the open ocean, level two introduces wave surfing in stand-up paddle, and level three is an instruction to big wave riding, pushing students out of their comfort zone and into the wild waves and beyond.

Packages are on offer for each water sports discipline in Sanur and can be booked independently for surf camp stays; lesson packages offer considerable discounts.
