23,098 people left Bali island and went to Java through Gilimanuk Port for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.
An official from Gilimanuk Port confirmed that 7,508 vehicles, consisting of 3,255 motorbikes and 4,253 cars, carried 23,098 people across the Bali strait through Gilimanuk Port. They went to Java for the Eid Al-Fitr celebration on Tuesday morning (26/4).
The official explained that although they recorded a considerable amount of passengers, the port did not reach its maximum capacity.
“There was a long line of motorbikes, but traffic was back to normal by 7:00 am,” said the official. He also mentioned that the majority of the passengers have received their vaccine boosters prior to their departure, resulting in an easier and faster process on the validation site inside Gilimanuk Port.
“There were only 2 passengers who haven’t had their booster shots, so we directed them to the nearest clinic to conduct the antigen test,” the official added.
The officials of Gilimanuk Port prepared 46 ferries to provide transportation services during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday season. Officials stated that the influx of domestic passengers at Gilimanuk Port peaked on Thursday (28/4).
The vaccine booster certificate and the negative Covid test result are only required of travelers above 6 years old.

The main issue was not the number of people who leaving Bali and the vaccine, but the number who will come to Bali which is going to be double maybe even triple coming not as tourists, but as job seekers.

The busiest travel of the year in Indonesia or in Malaysia for that matter. On a different note, our busiest travel of the year is Thanksgiving. Staying put and not caught in the mayhem has always been my choice.

@Wayan Bo, you do not need to be pious to celebrate a family gathering whether it is related to a religion, or a tradition. Christians regardless who celebrate Christmas do not necessarily or never attend church services.
