An official from the Klungkung regional government has announced that the region has targeted to reach over 50,000 visitors this year.
The Head of the Klungkung Tourism Agency, AA Gede Putra Wedana, confirmed that he aims to reach 51,000 visitors this year despite the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Wedana is optimistic that his target is achievable as the region received over 400,000 annual international and domestic visitors before the pandemic in 2020.
“We aim to bring in 36,000 visitors to Nusa Penida and 15,000 visitors to mainland Klungkung this year,” Wedana said on Saturday (19/3).
To reach the target, Wedana has planned to promote Klungkung’s tourist attractions through social media platforms and hold festivals. “We have prepared a budget to hold several festivals in our region, but this program is currently under assessment,” Wedana added.
Wedana claimed that the implementation of a zero quarantine policy for international travelers would bring a positive impact on Bali tourism.
“As the government has dropped the quarantine policy and resumed the visa on arrival program, we’re confident that Bali tourism will start to recover soon,” Wedana concluded.
