The Maritime and Investment Ministry coordinator, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, confirmed that the visa on arrival policy would resume in anticipation of the visa broker operation recently reported by the Bali provincial government.

“We will resume the visa on arrival policy so that travelers can gain access to the island without a sponsored visa,” Luhut said on Friday (25/2).

Luhut initiated this policy after receiving a report from Bali Vice Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) regarding the operations of some visa brokers who offer express visas at a premium through social media.

Luhut explained that the government also plans to test the zero quarantine policy once the medical facility in the island is ready.

During his visit, Luhut ensured that the hospital on the island was properly equipped with medical facilities.

“Before we can implement the zero quarantine policy, we need to assure that the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the other medical services at the Sanglah Public Hospital in Denpasar are ready to operate at maximum capacity,” Luhut concluded.
