Eighteen students have been detained for participating in an illegal motorbike convoy in Denpasar on Sunday (13/2).
The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas, confirmed that dozens of high school students and their motorbikes were detained by police. They conducted an illegal motorbike convoy around the Denpasar area on Sunday afternoon and caused disturbance to the traffic flow.
“After receiving multiple reports from residents regarding the convoy, we immediately sent officers who managed to detain some of these students,” AKBP Bambang said on Monday (14/2).
Hundreds of students began their convoy from Tohpati in Denpasar on Sunday afternoon, and then they headed to Bypass Ngurah Rai Sanur. Once they arrived at GBB Sanur’s intersection, the convoy split. One group went to Jalan Sudirman and the other went to Jalan Raya Sesetan.
The students fled when they were met by the police, but the officers still managed to stop and detain some of them.
The police invited the parents of the students to the police station as the majority of them were still underage.
