Four trees near Ubud Monkey Forest have collapsed, causing road closure on Thursday afternoon (6/1).

Fallen tree causing road closure

The Head of the Ubud Police Department, Kompol I Made Tama, confirmed that four trees near the Ubud monkey forest collapsed due to bad weather. Due to their old age, the trees lost their ability to withstand the strong winds.

“The unstable ground and the age of the trees made them struggle to withstand the recent storm,” Kompol Tama said.

A witness named Tri Rahardia, who lives near the location, suddenly heard a loud noise from the street on Thursday afternoon. She realized shortly after that the trees on the northern side of the Monkey Forest had collapsed.

The witness then reported the incident to the officials of Ubud Monkey Forest and Padangtegal Village.

A few moments later, authorities from the Ubud police department and the Gianyar Disaster Management (BPBD) arrived at the location to start clearing out the logs near Jalan Monkey Forest. Officers managed to move them to the side road by 5:15 pm, allowing them to open the road within an hour of the incident.

“This road is one of the busiest in Ubud, but thankfully, no one got injured from the falling trees,” Kompol Tama concluded.
