The Head of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Union (GIPI) for Bali, Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, submitted a proposal to the government, asking them to allow Bali tourism businesses to hold new year’s eve celebrations with strict regulations.

“I asked the government to grant us permission to hold new year’s eve parties,” Adnyana said on Wednesday (8/12).

Adnyana explained that the celebrations would be similar to traditional activities, such as the religious ceremonies that have been regularly conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I think the parties will be similar to our religious ceremonies in Bali, where many people gather during the event. Everything will be safe as long as the prevention protocols are properly implemented,” Adnyana added.

He also stated that the parties would have strict regulations, where offenders will face harsh consequences. This will help avoid creating a Covid-19 cluster during the celebrations. “Businesses that plan to host a party are required to ask for permission. They may lose their license if they’re proven to violate any requirements,” Adnyana concluded.

Meanwhile, Adnyana admitted that none of the tourism businesses had a new year’s eve party planned as the authorities still ban it.
