A total of five different villages in the Kuta area has been flooded due to the increase of rain intensity in Bali.
The Head of the Denpasar Public Relations, Iptu Ketut Sukadi, confirmed that heavy rain caused rivers to reach their maximum capacity. Consequently, the Kuta area was surrounded by floods.
“The rain that has been pouring since Sunday evening (5/12) until 9:00 am this morning has caused flooding in most Kuta areas,” Iptu Sukadi said on Monday (6/12).
Sukadi explained that this incident caused the river called Sungai Mati to overflow, impacting Kuta and the surrounding cities such as Badung and Denpasar.
However, Sukadi confirmed that nobody was injured from the incident, considered as Indonesia’s worst flood of the year.
“Nobody has reported any damage on their property so far, but most importantly, no one was injured from this incident,” Sukadi added. Meanwhile, the Head of the Badung Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Wayan Wirya, said that people were evacuated from offices in Jalan Dewi Sri, Kuta. They were then relocated to a safer area as the water level rose.
“Many offices along Jalan Dewi Sri were force-evacuated using carts as this area received the worst impact from this incident,” Wirya concluded.

Time to get the beaches cleared then. Pretty shaw it wasn't the tourist that was to blame for the mess.
