The Indonesian Social Minister, Tri Rismaharini (Risma) has confirmed that over USD 31 million (IDR 450 billion) of financial assistance for Bali residents has not yet been distributed.
During her visit to support the residents who were affected by the recent earthquake in Bali, Risma had also arranged a meeting with several related Bali provincial government institutions to inspect the financial assistance distribution that was previously provided by the central government for the affected tourism workers.
During the meeting, Risma was shocked after finding out that the cash provided was undistributed. “This amount of cash is huge, this would’ve helped Bali boost its economy if it was distributed on time.” Risma said during the press conference on Tuesday (19/10). According to the data, over 75,000 eligible families haven’t received the support from this program.
Risma also instructed Bali authorities to distribute the financial assistance and avoid distributing the food aid to people as they might expire before even being delivered. Risma was disappointed with this delayed distribution of financial aid as it contributes to the economic recovery in Bali and the livelihood of the people. “This will have a negative impact on the Bali economy, especially those who were in desperate need of receiving help as many people have been struggling to survive since the Covid-19 struck and destroyed Bali’s tourism sector.” Risma concluded.

Social minister Risma where have you been hiding for the last 20 months, your people have been in desperate need of assistance from the beginning of the pandemic and all we have heard is announcements about nothing from government ministers and to come out now and say that this large amount of money hasn’t been distributed to the people is unbelievable all it does is smack of total incompetence. You should be embarrassed

@Paul Morris, I couldn't agree with you more. But have you ever thought that the undistributed funds may be sitting in a local bank gaining interest for better days. A wild guess...
Nevertheless the widespread financial schenanigans have ruined the lives of many Balinese. Will the central government corruption task force institution shed a light into the matter and heads will probably roll...it remains to be seen.

@Paul Morris, It's simple concluding in my eyes as corrupt action to withholding this aid. Mark my words, it will not be used for the right reasons, and ends up in someone's pocket and will be the same after all, politics and corruption in the end.

Despite the generosity of the USA taypayers, giving cash and health care equipment to help Indonesians, the Indo government thanks the USA by excluding the USA from the list of 19 countries recently granted visas to Bali. The Covid-19 virus started from Wujan, China, yet two years later they are welcomed by the Indo government. Meanwhile the Balinese people, like my family (Indo citizens living in Bali), have had to endure adverse economic & health conditions.

Thailand has the same problem. Money earmarked for the public good somehow disappears . It’s all very strange.
