Badung Officials have threatened to penalize the grocery store for inadvertently allowing expats who painted a mask on her face to enter their supermarket.

The Deputy Chief of Badung Regent, I Ketut Suiasa has recently invited the management of Pupolar Supermarket on Thursday (22/4) as a response to the video of an expat who managed to trick one of the security guards at the grocery store’s entrance in order to gain access to the property without wearing a mask. As The Bali Sun previously reported that expat fooled the security by painting her face in order to look like she was wearing a facemask.

During the meeting that took place at the Regent’s Office in Badung, Suiasa and other government officials such as officials from North Kuta Sub-District and Tibubeneng Village officially invited the management of Popular Supermarket in order to give them a warning for their carelessness. “We only give the management of Popular Supermaket a warning this time, but we won’t tolerate any excuses if it happens again in the future.” Suiasa said on Thursday.

He explained that all businesses must implement strict prevention protocols during their operation, otherwise they would be punished with a USD 70 (IDR 1 million) or a temporary closure. “If we find any other negligence in that grocery store, we won’t hesitate to revoke their business permit,” Suiarsa concluded. Meanwhile the Manager of Popular Supermarket, I Wayan Kariana has apologized for the incident that occured in their supermarket and promised them to pay more attention to their prevention protocol implementation in the future.

Stupid and irresponsible - if she was unprepared with a mask - where did she suddenly get the face paints from. It was pre planned and she is a complete idiot. Nothing funny about this prank. Fine her and kick her out of Bali x

@Linda Hewett, Agree with you completely! These people have total disregard for this place and the local people. These ass-hats think this is a joke. They are too selfish to realize that their stupid antics have consequences that include others who are just trying to do their job. As for those of you who think that you are so far above the local people here, you need to seriously check yourselves! Stop being judgmental assholes! If you can not respect the people here than go back to wherever you came from! This is their country! NOT YOURS! You and your comments are so horrible!

There are similar looking face printed masks available, therefore it was perhaps not possible for grocery stuffs to see that it’s only paint on clients face and not a real mask.

Are officials deporting the expat who conspired to sicken a store full of people?

I see far far more stupidity with locals and their non use of face masks but because its a bule its huge outcry. Balancing reporting is what news should be about.

@DANU, There are far more unbalanced news around the world.

Nonetheless this is Bali for goodness sake overun by expats. Read the local language news in details then you make your own judgement for their own local missteps.

@DANU, it's mostly an outcry because the video went viral. If it was only seen by a few friends or something, nobody would have cared about it. If they just allowed here to go into the store without a mask, nobody would have cared either.

There should be no outcry here, it's a fairly normal situation: Yes you should wear a seatbelt, but few drivers do or urge passengers to unless they know police is looking.
