A laundry business that is owned by a 43-year-old woman named Ni Nyoman AA and her husband in Mengwi has been robbed and her husband has also just died from Covid-19.

The Head of Badung Public Relation Police Officer, Iptu Oka Bawa said that the incident occurred on Tuesday (23/3) at a laundry shop located in Mengwitani village, Badung. “The perpetrator stole some valuable items such as a laptop, Playstation 3, a camera, a Samsung tablet and other valuable papers all with an estimated value around USD 1,111 (IDR 16 million).” said Iptu Oka Bawa on Wednesday (31/3).

The incident began when Nyoman went to Mangusada hospital in Badung on Tuesday morning (23/3) around 7:00am to take care of the administration papers for her husband’s funeral who had just died from Covid-19. After finishing the paperwork at the hospital, Nyoman went to her laundry business around noon and she was shocked when she noticed that some of her valuable items were gone. After that, Nyoman immediately filed a report to the police station regarding the incident.

Mengwi Police Department came to the scene and began their investigation. “After collecting some information, we began to identify the suspects. Their names are Johandi from Lombok and DD from Karawang, West Java.” Oka Bawa added. Johandi was finally arrested in Jalan Gatot Subroto Tengah, Denpasar on Monday (29/3) while the other suspect, DD is now considered a fugitive. “The suspects sold all the stolen items in Denpasar and Banyuwangi, and then they split the money in half. Johandi is now being detained for further investigation.” Iptu Oka Bawa concluded.
