A 40-year-old man named I Nyoman Kumbadi has died after allegedly drinking diesel fuel at his house on Jalan Siulan, Penatih East Denpasar. The Head of Denpasar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Ida Bagus Joni Ari Wibawa said that the incident occurred as a relative of Kumbadi’s found him unconscious on the floor on Thursday evening (18/3). “One of Kumbadi’s relatives smelled diesel fuel from his mouth and body when he was found that evening,” Ari Wibawa said on Friday morning (19/3).
After finding Kumbadi unconscious, his relatives immediately reported the incident to BPBD and Police officer to get help. “Kumbadi was allegedly depressed prior to the incident. His relatives also found a bottle of diesel fuel next to his body,” Ari Wibawa added. His family members admitted to the officers that he faced a personal problem prior to the incident that may have led to the suicide.
The officers attempted to get the fluids out of his body, but they later decided to rush him to Wangaya Hospital as his condition got worse. Kumbadi was confirmed dead before the ambulance reached the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Head of Denpasar Police Department, Iptu Ketut Sukadi said that he hasn’t received any report regarding the incident. “The case is probably still under the investigation of East Denpasar Police Department, because I haven’t received any information about it,” Iptu Sukadi said.
