A Yustisi Operation was held on the Catus Pata intersection, Ubud, Gianyar on Saturday 6/2). Many expats were pulled over by officers for neglecting prevention protocols while in public places.
Authorities from the police department, public civil service, military, and transportation agency held the Yustisi Operation to inspect the implementation of health and safety protocols in the Ubud area.
The Head of Community Education from Ubud Police Department, AKP Made Agus Tantrawan said that officers found 8 violators during the operation. “They were caught for not wearing a mask in the public area,” Tantrawan said.
He explained that from 8 people who violated the prevention protocols, 7 of them were expats and the other one was a local from East Nusa Tenggara.
“We gave them a warning instead of a fine, but we will not tolerate disobedience the next time as we recorded their identity,” Tantrawan added.
He added that if they were caught a second time, they would be subject to a fine of USD7 (IDR 100,000).
Apart from a warning, officers penalized them in the form of push-ups while also handing out free masks to the violators.
“Apparently, many people are still unaware of the danger of this virus. That’s why we will keep inspecting all the areas in Ubud in order to cut off virus transmission in our area,” Tantrawan concluded.
Additionally, COVID-19 cases in Gianyar are still surging, and so the Handling Task Force in the area is more alert in enforcing protocols.
