Operations were once again held by Bali Police, Military, and Public Civil Service to check compliance of health and safety protocols, namely mask-wearing, in public places. Those found without a face mask, or incorrectly wearing a facemask were penalized in the form of pushups.
Officials are conducting regular inspections within Bali, specifically traditional markets and tourist attractions in Badung, in efforts to control the rising transmission of the virus.
The Head of Badung Operation Police Officer, I Putu Ngurah Riasa, said that officers need to be quick and decisive while enforcing rules to the people.
“I urge everybody to wear the facemask properly and carry out social distancing as cases of COVID-19 in our area are still surging,” Ngurah Riasa said on Tuesday (2/2).
He admitted that most people have been following the rules, but he reminds them to cover the nose and the mouth properly while wearing the face mask.
“I’ve seen some people put the mask on their chin, so I had to stop them and tell them to do push-ups as punishment,” Ngurah Riasa added.
Officers are constantly inspecting businesses to assure that health and safety protocols are implemented while operating.
“We still found some shops that violated the protocols in Badung, so we gave them a strict warning and educated them on the importance of the safety measures,” Riasa concluded.
The Police Department is working together with the Military and Public Civil Service during inspections in order to reach all areas in Badung District.
