A 53-year-old man from France has been arrested for sexual assault of a child said Bali Sub Director of Criminal Detective IV at his house in Kerobokan, North Kuta on Tuesday Oct 6th 2020.
The suspect with initials (EAP) from Montpellier, France was arrested after the parents of the victim made a report to the Bali Police Department.
The incident happened when the 10-year-old victim and his parents went to the Bali Wake Park on Jalan Pelabuhan Benoa Denpasar to do water activities in early October 2020. The victim’s father came with the accused who happens to be his close friend.
When the victim went to the restroom to change his clothes, the perpetrator followed the victim to the restroom. Becoming suspicious, the father went to the restroom to check on his son.
“That was when he has caught the suspect trying to sexually abuse his son” said the Police Officer.
The angry father has immediately reported the incident to the Bali Police Department. After collecting evidence from the CCTV footage, the suspect was found guilty. He is currently in jail awaiting sentencing.
We’ve sent the victim to the child psychiatrist for medical assistance to handle the trauma” the Officer added. The Police suspect that this was not the first time the perpetrator has abused the boy.
The officer added that the suspect already has a family and a child.
Head of Bali Public Relations Officer, Kombes Syamsi is still investigating the case and hasn’t given an official statement. “I have to check that out first before I respond,” Syamsi said.
Meanwhile the suspect’s lawyer, Maya A was unwilling to give a comment about her case. “I will inform you later,” Maya said on Thursday afternoon Oct 8th 2020.
