The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia has confirmed that it has opened two new offices in Bali.
The intention is to ‘strengthen oversight’ of foreigners in the province as well as to provide immigration services to local residents.

The two new offices are located in Tabanan and Klungkung, two areas that are gaining popularity among foreign nationals, both as tourist destinations and business hubs.
Tabanan Regency is best known for tourism destinations like Tanah Lot Temple and Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. Klungkung Regency is best known for being home to Kertha Gosa, and the Nusa Islands also fall within the jurisdiction.
The Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, spoke to reporters about the new offices. He noted that Tabanan and Klungkung were chosen for their increasingly high demand for immigration services. Yusman explained, “Regions identified as having significant immigration service needs can now be better accommodated.”
The new immigration office in Tabanan can be found on Jalan Arjuna 2, Delod Peken, right behind the Tabanan District Head Office. The Klungkung Immigration Office can be found on Jalan Semarapura. Both of the new offices are ranked as a Class III Immigration Office, which means that the services are somewhat more limited than those of other bigger offices.
Nevertheless, the offices can support almost all of the needs of the average foreigner in Bali. A Class III Immigration Office can support visa and stay permit extensions, offer reporting and registration services, and be a point from which immigration officers can conduct monitoring activities.
The new immigration offices are a step towards alleviating some of the pressure on existing offices, such as the Denpasar Immigration Office and Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, which currently serve the majority of foreigners in Bali. The Singaraja Immigration Office provides services for residents of the Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem areas. Indonesian residents in Tabanan and Klungkung can access immigration services at these new offices, including passport renewal.
Over the past year, there have been significant changes to Indonesia’s immigration system, particularly regarding visa extensions. Tourists traveling to Bali and other regions of Indonesia are always advised to keep an eye on updates from the Indonesian Immigration in the weeks leading up to their trip.
It remains the case that the most appropriate visa for most tourists and holidaymakers to Bali is the e-VOA. The e-VOA is a 30-day visa, a renewable one for a further 30 days. This visa extension can be completed after arrival in Indonesia, before the end of the first 30 days. Extensions must be completed through the Hybrid-Application System.

The e-VOA costs IDR 500,000 and covers most tourism and leisure activities and a very limited set of business-related activities, including attending meetings, events, and exhibitions, as well as the purchase of goods and site visits.
The VOA can also be applied for in person upon arrival at any of Indonesia’s international airports, including Ngurah Rai.

For those wishing to stay longer in Indonesia for leisure, family, or travel purposes, the C1 Tourism Visa is generally the most suitable option, as it permits an initial stay of 60 days and can be extended for up to 180 days.
However, all visitors to Indonesia are personally responsible for obtaining the correct visa for their intended purpose of visit.

Tourists traveling to Bali could see more Immigration Task Force Officers out on patrol during their stay on the island. Immigration Task Force Officers have been deployed on patrols across top destinations such as Canggu, Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Ubud, and Nusa Dua.
Officers are conducting spot checks on tourists, enquiring as to their intended length of stay and reason for visit. If stopped, tourists may be asked to present their visa and passport to officers for inspection.
