The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency for Bali, (BMKG Bali) has issued updated weather warnings for the whole of the province.

In a statement, the BMKG Bali explained, “Tropical Cyclone Seeding 96S is currently located to the south of East Nusa Tenggara, in the Indian Ocean, west of Western Australia.”

The statement continues, “Gale force winds have been observed to the northwest of the system. The indirect impacts of Tropical Cyclone Seedling 96S include: moderate to heavy rainfall in the Bali and East Nusa Tenggara regions.”

“Strong winds in Bali to East Nusa Tenggara. Sea wave heights of 2.5 – 3.5 meters, rough season in the southern Bali and NTT waters.”

The islands of Lombok, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air are also impacted by Cyclone Seedling 96S, in addition to the islands of Bali Province, including Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

The BMKG Bali explains, “Currently, Bali is still in the rainy season, but the presence of Tropical Cyclone Seedling 96S is influencing an increase in convective activity, wind speed, and sea wave heights, particularly in the southern Bali region. They add, “Tourists who want to visit the beaches in Southern Bali, such as Nusa Dua Beach, Kuta Beach, Melasti Beach, Uluwatu Beach, etc, are recommended to stay near the shore and avoid swimming.”

Dozens of natural disaster notices have been recorded across all nine regencies in Bali, and the Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is currently working around the clock to support commutes impacted by heavy rains and devastating winds.

Teja told reporters, “The impact was three fatalities and six injured with an estimated damage of IDR 515 million.”
