Tourism Minister Impressed With Quality Experiences On Offer In Bali

Both the Indonesian Minister for Tourism, Widiyanti Wardhana, and the Deputy Tourism Minister, Ni Luh Puspa, have visited Bali this week and stopped by some of the island’s most popular attractions.

Ni Luh Puspa headed to the central highlands and visited Bali Botanical Gardens in Bedugul. Minister Wardhana set off for Gianyar Regency and visited Bali Safari.

The Minister stopped and chatted with both attraction staff and visitors and shared her praise for the tourism experience on offer in Bali at the moment.

During her visit, Minister Wardhana spoke with staff at major tourist attractions about the importance of maintaining high standards of amenities and how comfort is key to strengthening national tourism competitiveness with neighbouring destinations. She personally took the time to ensure that the facilities and services provided to tourists were running optimally.

Minister Wardhana told reporters, “We want to ensure all amenities are clean, the facilities are comfortable, and the services are running optimally. The inspection results showed a very good impression.”

She added, “Bali also recently won the Best Destination 2026 award from Tripadvisor. This demonstrates Bali’s strong image. Indonesia, especially Bali, remains a safe and comfortable destination for tourists.”

This week’s increase in visitor numbers has been welcomed by tourism businesses in Bali, who have been concerned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East will impact Bali’s arrival figures sooner rather than later. Bali Safari’s Business Development Director, Hans Manansang, warmly welcomed the increase in visits and Minister Wardhana.

He shared, “We are very pleased to receive the Minister’s attention. During high season like this, visits can reach 4,000 people per day. On normal days, there are only around 1,500.”

Manansang, like many managers at Bali’s top attractions, is already adapting strategies to ensure that sufficient visitors come through the door, while balancing a crowd-free, affordable, and engaging experience for all.

He noted, “We are optimistic that with the Minister’s strategy, international tourism can recover. We can rely on markets in Oceania, Australia, the Pacific, and others.”

He concluded, “The Minister of Tourism’s visit this time seems to be a strong signal: tourism in Bali, especially in Gianyar, is not only surviving—it’s slowly regaining its momentum.”

A Mini Vibe Check: Bali’s Cultural Heart

Gianyar Regency is one of Bali’s most established tourism destinations. Home to Bali’s arts and cultural capital, Ubud, the attractions and destinations around Gianyar Regency, along with the thriving food scene and world-class accommodations, ensure that the area receives some of the highest visitor numbers of any region in Bali.

Tourists planning on visiting Gianyar Regency should be sure to visit top cultural landmarks like Ubud Water Palace, Taro Cultural Village, and the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. In terms of art and culture, the ARMA Museum is not to be overlooked, nor is the Blanco Museum. Gianyar Regency is also the most popular area for tourists who want to take part in jungle ATV riding and white water rafting.

These bucket list adventures are fun for all ages, no matter the weather. However, tourists should always double-check that their travel insurance provider covers these kinds of adventure activities before booking.

Tourists who want to explore Ubud but don’t want to stay in the centre of town should look for accommodation in Sayan, Mas, or even Tampaksiring.

These communities lie on the outskirts of Ubud and allow tourists easy access to Ubud’s top attractions while also offering a quieter and more rural feel.

While Ubud is the most popular place, others stay in Gianyar Regency; there are many other overlooked destinations that are certainly worth exploring.

Gianyar Regency is home to some of Bali’s most impressive black sand beaches. For a crowd-free coastal getaway, Keramas Beach is a top pick.
