Bali’s Ubud is preparing to welcome a new luxury hotel to the area. IHG Hotels and Resorts has revealed this month plans to develop the company’s first property in Bali, and the doors are set to open in 2026.

IHG Hotels and Resorts is the company behind the luxury hotel brand Kimpton. The company is set to open the Kimpton Bali Ubud in 2026 and has chosen Ubud as the destination for its first foray into the Island of the Gods for its cultural abundance.
In a press statement, IHG Hotels and Resorts confirmed that it has signed a management agreement with PT Mustika Adiperkasa and GHS K.K. to bring this project to life in just a few short months.
According to IHG Hotels and Resorts, the “Kimpton Bali Ubud will offer 101 thoughtfully designed rooms that reflect Kimpton’s signature style. Seamlessly integrated into Ubud’s lush natural landscape, the hotel is set along a revered stretch of the sacred WOS River, and it is rare to have an internationally-branded hotel located in the heart of the Ubud district within walking distance of Ubud Palace .”
In a written statement, Satoru Kondo, President of GHS, K.K., shared, “We’ve built a strong partnership with IHG with hotels across Japan and are excited to now further that relationship through the introduction of the Kimpton brand to Bali. As we continue to expand our existing portfolio, we value the strength of IHG’s brands and their commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Kimpton’s distinctive style and heartfelt approach to hospitality align perfectly with our vision for this unique Ubud location.”
Kondo’s sentiments were echoed by Rajit Sukumaran, the SVP & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific (EAPAC), IHG Hotels & Resorts who explained ‘We have seen a rise of travellers to Bali choosing to split their stay across different parts of Bali to seek varied experiences – from the beaches of the south to the hilly regions of the north.”
“Kimpton Bali Ubud, situated in Bali’s cultural, spiritual, and creative heart toward the north, will offer that unique experience and, together with the popularity of the Kimpton brand, add more choices for guests when choosing to travel to Bali.”
The Kimpton Bali Ubud is set to feature three in-house restaurants, as well as a cafe and deli. This is in addition to world-class wellness facilities, a fully equipped gym, spa complex, and swimming pool.
This month has seen some huge announcements coming out of Bali in terms of tourism and hotel development. Leaders in Tabanan, Jembrana, Buleleng, Bangli, Karangasem, and Klungkung have all just agreed to ‘stop encouraging’ the development of new hotels, resorts, and tourist restaurants in their constituencies.

Notably, these areas are home to more of Bali’s emerging tourism destinations. The agreement, spearheaded by the Bali Provincial Government, does not include Badung Regency or Gianyar Regency, home to popular tourism destinations such as Canggu, Uluwatu, and Ubud.

The news that IHG Hotels and Resorts will be opening a new property in Bali’s Ubud comes in the same week that the island has been named as the Best Island for Relaxation in 2025 by Expedia. The online travel comparison and booking site has just listed its annual travel awards, and it is no surprise to see Bali topping the charts once again.

The Island of the Gods has been listed alongside some incredible destinations in the Best Island category for 2025. While Bali takes home the prize as the best island for relaxation, Aruba was awarded as the best for sunshine all year round, the Dominican Republic the best for adventure, and Paros in Greece for the best nightlife.
