As Bali embarks on a new journey as a world-class medical and health tourism destination, the island’s leading hotels and resorts are starting to align their offerings to guests in new ways.
Bali has long been a top wellness tourism destination and now more facilities are bringing together medical, health, and wellness tourism offerings into packages.
In April 2025 Bali is set to celebrate the official opening of the new Bali International Hospital in Sanur. The new world-class hospital will serve private patients, from Indonesia and around the world.
The facility will offer cardiology, neurology, critical illness, gastroenterology, and orthopedics, as well as an emergency care unit and an intensive care facility.
Bali is projected to compete with Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore in terms of medical tourism offerings in Southeast Asia.
As the island, and the resort of Sanur specifically, awaits the opening of the hospital, hotels, and resorts in the area are already working to align their offering to the needs of this new wave of tourists due to visit the area.
The masterminds behind the Sanur Special Economic Zone for Health and Medical Tourism, want the area to offer a fully integrated health tourism system. This is something that the Sudamala Resort in Sanur has been working to achieve.
In a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sudamala Resort Sanur will be offering a pilot health tourism project in Bali.
The program, known as Royal Wellness, will provide guests with a range of preventive health programs that combine medical examinations, fitness therapy, and a holistic and interdisciplinary approach with the support of the latest medical technology and professional staff.
At the launch of the Royal Wellness program the President Director of PT Puja Mulia Utama, Dr. Ida Ayu Oka Purnamawati, told reporters “Our ‘Royal Wellness’ service is designed to ensure that every patient receives quality, safe, and comfortable care.”
“This program is expected to have a long-term positive impact on public health so that they can live a more quality and productive life.” The program has currently been designed in partnership with teams at the Bali Royal Mother and Child Hospital.
Dr Purnamawati continued, “Sanur is known as a peaceful tourist destination with beautiful beaches and high-standard facilities. We believe this collaboration will create extraordinary synergy to provide the best experience for customers.”
Adding, “We have properties in several regions of Indonesia with great potential in the wellness tourism sector. This program also involves cooperation with various travel agents to reach a wider market.”
The Operational Director of PT Putra Husada Jaya (PHJ) and PT Puja Mandala Utama, Gede Harsa Wardana, told the press, “This health check combines medical services with alternative approaches, such as pranic healing, tarot reading, human design, mental health checks, yoga, and other interesting activities. All of this is packaged in a package that includes accommodation and travel experiences in Bali.”
For medical tourists planning their visits to Bali, it is now possible to book health screening packages for early bird rates.
The Bali Deluxe package is on offer for IDR 7,000,000 and includes a comprehensive selection of advanced testing for metabolic disorders, infections, and organ function. The screening is completed in under 3 hours and all the results are delivered in 24 hours.
The Bali Classic package is available at the early bird rate of IDR 3,400,000 and is designed for those in general good health who are embarking on their first full health screening.
