It is indisputable that Bali’s Uluwatu is one of the island’s hottest destinations right now.

But the latest travel figures show exactly how popular the cliff-top resort has become.

Calling in international surfers and culture vultures too, Uluwatu ticks all the right boxes for a Bali vacation.

Labuan Sait Beach, also known as Padang Padang Beach, is one of Uluwatu’s most famous coastal hangouts. This high season has seen a record number of visitors.

One of the big attractions of the beach is the incredible surf the area has to offer, and the stunning cliffs that back the stretch of coastline.

While Thomas Beach, Uluwatu Beach and Bingin Beach are the first beaches that spring to the minds of travelers own thinking about Uluwatu, Labuan Sait Beach is proving to be a timeless hit too.

Speaking to reporters the Labuan Sait Beach Management Manager I Wayan Wijana, said that tourist visits since January 2024 have averaged around 1,000 to 1,200 people every day.

He noted,” However, during high season, coupled with surfing events, the number of visits can reach 1,500 to 2,000 per day.”

The vast majority of tourists visiting Labuan Sait Beach have been international visitors, with the seaside retreat welcoming holidaymakers from Australia, Brazil and around Asia too. Wijana noted that around 30% of visitors to Labuan Sait Beach have been domestic tourists from Bali and around Indonesia.

Wijana said, “Even though our stretch of beach is small, the waves are interesting here. International surfing events are also held here. The fierce waves can only be conquered by brave professional surfers; that is the uniqueness of Labuan Sait, plus its very beautiful white sand.”

He added, “We hope that world conditions remain stable so that it can influence the stability of the world economy, especially the stability of tourism visits to Indonesia, Bali in particular.”

Wijana explained that to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, the beach management team collaborates with lifeguards, traders, surf staff, and security staff throughout the day and night. Visits to Labuan Sait Beach are permitted from 7 am – 7 pm.

It is not only the surf and white sands that attract tourists to Labuan Sait beach, but also the culture. The Beach Management Team regularly hosts Kecak performances on the beachfront. This is an engaging, exciting, and super unique destination where you can host a Kecak performance.

Of course, Uluwatu is famous for hosting the most popular nightly kecak performance of all at the amphitheater at Uluwatu Temple.

Yet the Kecak performance set right on the sand, with the waves gently lapping against the shore, brings a whole other level of depth to the cultural show, especially when performed in the late afternoon or early evening, as the sun begins to set over the Indian Ocean.

Uluwatu’s beaches are a huge attraction for tourists, and so are the cultural wonders of Bukit. While the arts and culture capital of Bali is Ubud, there are still plenty of cultural attractions to explore in and around Uluwatu, too.

One of the most significant cultural attractions in Uluwatu is Pura Luhur Uluwatu or Uluwatu Temple. Situated on a rocky clifftop, the Uluwatu Temple has stood as a beacon of Balinese spirituality between land, water, and sky for hundreds of years.

Uluwatu Temple is also well known to tourists as being home to an incredibly cheeky resident troop of monkeys.

Uluwatu Temple is a must-visit cultural gem for tourists visiting the resort, as in the GWK Cultural Park.

The management team at Uluwatu Temple has confirmed that tourist visits will not be disrupted by upcoming and essential conservation efforts on the cliffside that are supporting the temple.

Over the last fifty years, a notable crack has appeared beneath Uluwatu Temple, and leaders have sourced significant funding to conserve and reinforce the rock.

A blessing ceremony took place on Sunday, 4th August, and work will get underway this week. The IDR 82 trillion project is set to be completed in 2025.

When you have to pay to enter a place of worship (Uluwatu Temple), it is not a place of worship.

@Mango Carafino, Correct. It is just another Bali money maker to walk the grounds. There is no actual access to temple itself as is the case for all Bali temples.
