Russian national, Andrew Ayer alias Andrei Kovalenka, managed to escape while being detained at Bali Immigration Office on Thursday (11/2). The man is a fugitive of Interpol Russia and has yet to be found.
Kavalenco was on the run from Interpol Russia for an unfinished narcotics case in his native country. He fled from Russia and arrived in Indonesia to avoid Interpol and hide in Bali.
After noticing that his name alarmed a Red Alert, Bali officials detained him to collect information and data that might be needed before handing him over to Interpol.
Before that could happen, Kavalenco escaped from the Immigration office in Badung on Thursday morning at 11:30 am.
The 33-year-old was allegedly assisted by his female accomplice, Ekaterina Trubkina, who is also from Russia. She came to visit him just before his escape from the detention cell of Badung Immigration Office Class I.
“She helped him to escape when nobody noticed them,” said an official from Immigration Office.
Immigration officers immediately alerted Bali Police Department to locate them.
According to information from witnesses, they were once spotted in Mumbul, Nusa Dua.
Officials also made a poster titled “Most Wanted Person” with their picture and identity and published it on the media.
