It will soon be easier than ever before to travel between Bali and South Korea. This is great news for tourists from South Korea who want to experience the Island of the Gods, but also great news for travelers seeking to experience a broad array of Asian cultures and landscapes on a trip to the continent.

As South Korea becomes an even more appealing travel destination for backpackers and holidaymakers, the connections between Bali and Incheon give tourists more affordable and accessible ways to plan the adventure of a lifetime.

Launching on the 27th October 2024 will be a direct flight service between Incheon and Denpasar. The service will operate seven time a week with a flight capacity of 180 passengers per flight.

Starting this week, the flight frequency between I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali to Lede Kalumbang Airport, Tambolaka in Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara will increase to three times a day return.

Tambolaka is the gateway to Sumba, which has quickly become one of the most in-demand cultural, surf, and luxury travel destinations in Indonesia. The destination seriously caught the attention of global luxury travelers when NIHI Sumba was named the best hotel in the world by Travel + Leisure Magazine for two years in a row.

The increased flight frequency with Lion Air will help ensure Bali lovers can access the broad spectrum of adventures the Indonesian archipelago has to offer.

In a press statement, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Wings Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, said, “Lion Air Group supports tourism and economic development in Eastern Indonesia by increasing air connectivity. This additional flight frequency will make Tambolaka increasingly well known and become a favorite destination for domestic and foreign tourists.”

Budget airline Batik Air Malaysia has also announced this week a series of new and increased flight options that will better connect travelers with destinations around Indonesia and Malaysia, including Surabaya, Lombok, Padang, and Pekan Baru.

Super Air Jet has also confirmed the launch of a new flight service that will operate between Kuala Lumpur and the Indonesian province of Aceh in Sumatra, starting on the 3rd of August.

New data was revealed by Seasia Stats, that shows the world’s most on-time online airline is Garuda Indonesia, with all flights operating according to schedule 95.28% of the time. This high season, Garuda Indonesia has ensured greater flight availability for Bali’s most frequent visitors.

The airline increased flight availability on its most popular Australia-Bali routes in April and again in July to make sure Australian holidaymakers had sufficient affordable and timely flight options.

The Garuda Indonesia Sydney-Bali service now operates four times weekly, and the Melbourne-Bali route operates twice weekly, too.

With the increased flight availability between South Korea and other Indonesian provinces, Bali Airport is set to have its busiest year to date.

The increased flight availability is showing no sign of slowing down. Speaking earlier this month, the General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I International Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Handy Heryudhitiawan, confirmed that even more flight routes will be introduced by the end of the year.

He revealed that six major international airlines are bidding for increased flight routes starting in October 2024.

Speaking to reporters, Heryudhitiawan said, “We are open with any airline; anyone who wants to fly here, please come. The important thing is that the time slot is still available, and our capacity is in accordance with the type of aircraft that will be used.”

All of this comes as Indonesian Ministers are working to implement flight subsidies that will help reduce the cost of flight tickets for both domestic and intentional tourists across the country.

The Indonesian Minister for Investment and Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has confirmed that he and his teams are taking steps to reduce the cost of flights in and out of the country, including for tourism hotspots like Bali.
