A man named Willy Candra has lost a large amount of cash that he left inside his car while shopping in a grocery store in Bali.

The Head of the Badung Police Department, AKBP Leo Dedy Defretes confirmed that the victim who has been living on Jalan Gunung Andakasa Number 35 North Denpasar has lost a total of USD 17,100 (IDR 244 million) that he left inside his car while he was shopping in a grocery store called Tiara Gatzu that is located in Kerobokan Kaja, North Kuta on Wednesday afternoon (6/10).

Prior to the incident, the victim explained that before arriving at the grocery store he tried to visit the bank to store his money on Saturday afternoon around 2:20pm.

When he arrived at the bank, he noticed that the bank was closed on Saturday so he continued to drive to Tiara Gatzu. “Once he arrived at the parking area, he left a bag full of cash in the car and went inside Tiara Gatzu for some grocery shopping.” said one of the officers on Friday (8/10).

Once he finished shopping around 2:50pm and walked towards his car, the parking attendant of Tiara Gatzu approached the victim and told him that someone had broken into a car by smashing the window and asked the victim if the car was his. Shortly after when the victim checked his car, he realized that his bag was gone.

After receiving a report from the victim, police officers from the Badung Police Department immediately came to the scene and began their investigation. “We assumed that the perpetrator had been following the victim for quite a while before finally managing to steal the bag,” said the officer. Meanwhile, AKBP Defretes stated that his officers are still trying to investigate the case by collecting more information from the surrounding area as the security cameras of Tiara Gatzu were broken when the incident happened.
