A 24-year-old man named Kadek Budiarta has been sentenced with 10 years of imprisonment for attempting to distribute 93 packages of narcotics in Bali.
During a virtual trial on Thursday (24/6), the Judges from the Denpasar court house that was led by Gede Putra Astawa have made their decision to punish the suspect with a 10 years of imprisonment and a USD 70,000 (IDR 1 billion) fine to be held responsible for getting involved in distributing narcotics in Bali.
Prior to the arrest, an investigation regarding this case began after an authority from the Bali Police Department received information that the suspect was often spotted distributing narcotics in the Bali area. The suspect who was originally from Banyuning, Buleleng was finally arrested from a boarding house that is located on Jalan Muding Indah Kerobokan, North Kuta on Saturday (23/1).
The suspect has been detained along with 93 packages of crystal meth weighing 45.85 grams. During the interrogation, the suspect admitted that his financial situation forced him to accept this job in order to survive after being unemployed for quite a long time. Meanwhile, authorities from the Bali Police Department confirmed that the narcotics cases have been surging since the Covid-19 pandemic struck in Bali as many people were laid-off from their job, causing them to lose their income to provide for their family.
