Australians yearning for a pre-Christmas getaway to Bali are in luck. Top airline Qantas has just announced a major flight ticket sale, with prices on airfares to several top destinations significantly reduced.

Bali is entering the low season. As the school holidays already feel like a distant memory, although only a matter of weeks ago, there is a sense of quietness that falls on Bali’s top tourism resorts from mid-September through mid-December.
This low season period is ideal for travellers, not only are the big crowds nowhere to be seen, but flight deals and reduced accommodation rates are widely available and offer tourists the chance to get 5-star experiences and more for just a fraction of the cost.
Qantas is in the midst of a one-week mega sale, which is offering passengers huge discounts on more than 80,000 seats to top destinations, including Bali. Other destinations included in the sale include Hong Kong, India, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. The sale includes routes to Bali operating out of both Melbourne, with fares starting at AUD 599 return, and from Sydney, AUD 679 return.
The sale does not only include airfares for flights in 2025, but those with a savvy eye for travel dates will also find deals on travel between early May 2026 and the middle of June. The Qantas sale will operate until Monday, 22nd October, unless all discounted tickets sell out prior. Full details can be found at the Qantas website.
Low-season deals will be easy to come across both in terms of airfares and accommodation, too, in the coming months. Leaders in Bali and across Indonesia have been clear that despite major flooding in Bali in the last week, and political demonstrations nationwide the week prior, both the country and the province remain safe and welcoming for travellers.
Over the weekend, Indonesia’s Tourism Minister Widiyanti Wardhana visited Bali to assess the extent of the damage from the worst of the flooding in Denpasar, which hit on Wednesday, 10th, and Thursday, 11th September.
When asked for comment on travel in Bali and any advice for incoming tourists, Minister Wardhana shared, “We have checked that there are no cancellations at all from tourists, no flight or hotel cancellations, even though it is very full, it is normal.”
She added, “Tourism is okay, well, if there is a travel warning, it is a common thing for a country to warn its citizens who travel abroad. But I think Bali will rise back to normal, I think so.”
Only on the 6th September did Minister Wardhana issue urgent pleas to tourists in Indonesia, and those shortly due to arrive, to assuage fears around safety in light of political protests in major cities nationwide.
Minister Wardhana shared, “The Indonesian government remains firmly committed to upholding the rule of law, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety of both citizens and international visitors.”

She added, “The Ministry of Tourism confirms that Indonesia remains open and welcoming, with all major tourism destinations operating as usual. Safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we are dedicated to providing visitors with memorable experiences.”
On behalf of the Indonesian Government and President Prabowo Subianto, Minister Wardhana explained, “The Indonesian Government also confirms that Indonesia remains attractive for investment and business activities.”

“Through ongoing structural reforms aimed at reducing economic inefficiencies, Indonesia continues to move forward with resilience, consistency, and a clear sense of direction, supported by strong fundamentals and sustained economic growth.”
Tourists planning on traveling to Bali in the coming months must ensure that they have fully comprehensive travel insurance. It is vital that all tourists to Bali fully read and understand their policy cover and inclusions, as well as exclusions, prior to travel to Indonesia.

This should include cover for flight cancellations, delays, and disruptions, as well as cover in the event of natural disasters. All travellers have a responsibility to check in with their nation’s foreign office before and during travel to Indonesia to follow the advice given and to obey the law of Indonesia while in the country.
