Australian tourists are now spoiled for choice when it comes to planning their trips to Bali.

Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda Airlines, is increasing its weekly flight services to the Island of the Gods and the capital city, Jakarta, from cities across Australia.

For decades, Bali’s most frequent international holidaymakers have hailed from Australia.

Since the pandemic ended, Australian tourists have been calling for increased flight availability to Bali both for the purposes of convenience and cost. In theory, the more flights there are available, the more affordable ticket fares become

Garuda’s Australia-Bali routes will be increasing in phases leading up to the long school winter holidays. The services increase to five times weekly from the 17th of June before increasing to a daily service as of the 6th of July.

For travelers departing from Sydney International Airport heading to Bali, they will catch the GA 715, which sets off from Sydney at 10 am and arrives in Denpasar at 2:35 pm.

The return flight, GA 714, departs from Denpasar at 11:25 pm and will land in Sydney at 7:10 am the following day.

For tourists jetting off from Melbourne, the GA 719 service takes off from Tullamarine at 7 am and lands in Bali at 11:05 am.

The return journey aboard the GA 718 departs Denpasar at 10:05 pm, landing in Melbourne at 5:30 am the next morning.

Tourists should note that daylight savings time stops in both Sydney and Melbourne on the 7th of April and comes back into effect on the 6th of October 2024.

This is all great news for tourists; although not a budget airline, Garuda Indonesia offers top service and great ticket fares. In fact, there are many reasons to love traveling with Garuda Indonesia.

The ranked first in the Top 20 Global Airlines in 2023, as well as being the airline with the best punctuality rate in Asia Pacific throughout the last 12 months, according to the independent British agency, OAG Flightview.

Speaking to reporters about the best punctuality rankings, the President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero), Irfania Putra, said that these achievements are a great boost of optimism for the airline.

Irfania Putra said, “We believe that service users’ continued trust in Garuda flight services is formed from the core values that we continue to maintain, including aspects of security, safety, and comfort, including punctual departure and arrival times according to schedule.”

Data published by OAG on the report titled “Annual On-Time Performance for 2023” Garuda Indonesia received a score of 95.28 percent in On-Time Performance (OTP) for a total of more than 49,000 flights operated during 2023.

Putra said, “Garuda Indonesia’s achievement is, of course, also a form of appreciation and thanks to all Garuda Indonesia service users who play a role in the smooth operation of Garuda Indonesia.”

The increased flight services to and from Australia will make a huge difference to tourists. The Garuda Airline schedule is just one of many increased flight services on the cards.

Two of Australia’s biggest airlines, Virgin Australia and Jetstar, are currently battling it out to win extra flights to Bali.

In what is being referred to in the aviation industry as the ‘Battle for Bali, ‘ Virgin Australia and Jetstar are bidding to increase seat capacity to Denpasar for the year ahead.

The bidding war has even seen unions step in and give their backing to Virgin Australia. The Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FFA) and the Transport Workers Union want to see Virgin Australia win the bid due to their commitment to the top.

The International Air Services Commission is now reviewing all applications and recommendations. Jetstar is saying they want to run daily Cairns-Melbourne-Denpasar flights and an additional Adelaide-Perth-Denpasar service that would operate three times a week.

Virgin Australia has applied to operate two new daily routes, Gold Coast-Perth-Denpasar and Adelaide-Denpasar, also via Perth.
