Demand for luxury and high-end yacht experiences in Bali has been increasing over the last few years.
With leaders funneling more investment into developing a super yacht marina in Bali’s Benoa, tourism experts are anticipating a huge boom in demand for yacht rentals in Bali in the years to come.
Right now, in Bali, all eyes are on a company called Yacht Sourcing, which is changing the game for yachting in Bali forever. As a prominent team within the international yachting industry, the company is seeking to shake things up in Bali, Indonesia, and the region more broadly.
Boum Senous, the CEO of Yacht Sourcing has just introduced a new fleet of six yachts that will be docked at Bali’s Benoa Harbour for the foreseeable future. Yacht Sourcing, which launched in 2016, is poised to help skyrocket the yachting industry in Bali.
The yachts are set to travel to incredible destinations around Bali Province and the Indonesian archipelago, including Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands, Komodo National Park, the Banda Islands, and even Raja Ampat.
Yacht Sourcing will be working with Black Stone Yacht Club in Benoa to help provide a luxury on-land dining experience, as well as creating partnerships with five-star hotels in the region and helicopter tour providers. Senous told reporters, “We provide services with high quality and standards from A to Zero.”
He added, “Relocating our operations to Black Stone Yacht Club wasn’t just a business decision; it was an inspired choice. The Club’s facilities and location perfectly align with our mission to deliver seamless, world-class yachting experiences. Together, we’re not just offering services; we’re curating journeys that resonate with the soul.”
The CEO of Black Stone Yacht Club in Benoa, Purwo Handoko, told reporters, “With this yacht fleet, it will increase competitiveness, capturing the premium tourist market share.”
He added that he hopes that the new partnerships will help boost Indonesia’s maritime tourism sector, including increasing the availability of high-end charter services, luxury mooring facilities, even yacht exhibitions, and the promotion of high-end maritime lifestyle events.
Handoko outlined how the new partnership between Yacht Souring and Black Stone Yacht Club will help change the face of yachting in Bali.
He shared, “We saw an opportunity to create something unique—something that would elevate Indonesia’s standing in the world of luxury maritime tourism. By working together, we can offer our guests and clients experiences that are not just luxurious but deeply meaningful.”
The Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is a huge redevelopment of Benoa Harbour and the area surrounding the port.
In addition to a super yacht marine the area now has the capacity to receive bigger cruise shops, up to 350m in length, and carrying over 6,000 passengers. Cruise tourism to Bali is set to see a huge boost in the next few years.
Handoko noted that the development of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub at Benoa, which is still in process, will also help accommodate the needs of the growing market.
He added, “Currently in process, the marine will be widened so that more yachts will come, and our plan is to expand outside of Bali to [destinations] such as Lombok, Raja Ampat, or Labuan Bajo.”
There is already serious demand for yachting and live-aboard boat experiences in regions outside of Bali.
For example, it is an incredibly popular choice for tourists to book a live abroad diving and snorkeling vacation in Labuan Bajo and the Komodo National Park area, as well as in areas of the archipelago such as Raja Ampat, known for its world-class diving.
Many of these live-aboard experiences are offered on luxurious but traditional wooden boats and ships. The launch of more super yacht experiences in these regions, departing from Bali, would help promote the luxury tourism market in more ways.
The promotion of the luxury tourism market and attracting more high-spending, longer-staying tourists is a mission close to the Bali Tourism Office and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism’s hearts.
Political leaders, as well as industry leaders, want to see the development of more high-quality and sustainable tourism in Bali and wish to move away from the development of more mass tourism initiatives, especially in the central south of the island.
