Inmate Marries Fiance Inside Bali Police Department Building

A man named I Wayan Bawa Kartika has married his fiance in the Denpasar Police Department building lobby.

The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas, confirmed that Denpasar Police Department hosted a wedding ceremony for an inmate on Monday (18/4).

The wedding procession attended by their families was strictly supervised by the authorities from the police department and the state attorney. The authorities finally granted permission for the couple to have a wedding ceremony because Bawa’s wife was already in her 7^th month of pregnancy.

A Hindu Priest led the procession. After that ended, Bawa was moved back to the prison cell while his spouse and their families were transported back home. Bawa was arrested for his involvement in drug trafficking in Bali.

The police arrested Bawa in Jalan Imam Bonjol, Denpasar on December 3^rd 2021 along with several packages of narcotics. “We managed to seize 163.64 grams of meth and 30 pieces of ecstacy from the suspect in December 2021,” AKBP Bambang said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Human Resources for the Denpasar Police Department, Kompol I Nengah Sumadi, explained that this was the second wedding ceremony they had hosted for the inmates.

“We also hosted a wedding ceremony for an inmate in 2021,” Kompol Sumadi said.
