Sitting right at the far north of Bali is Lovina.
This quaint and quiet beach resort is popular with couples and families who are looking for a coastal retreat close enough to the beaten track for the sake of convenience but far enough away to avoid crowds.
Lovina ticks all the right boxes.
In July, Lovina will welcome the long-awaited return of Lovfest. The annual festival was canceled for three years due to the pandemic and will return in July with a bang. Lovfest is a culture and arts festival that takes place in the resort town.
The event is popular with locals and tourists alike and has often been seen as an important event in the Buleleng Regency calendar.
Lovfest is a celebration of music, art, culture, and community. During the festival, locals and foreigners come together to celebrate life at this family-orientated event.

Speaking to reporters, the Head of the Tourism Office of Buleleng Regency, Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, shared that everyone involved in the festival is already hard at work making plans come together.
He added, “We have encouraged the arts community and tourism industry players in the Lovina area to jointly hold the Lovina Festival for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Askara continued to explain that organizers have chosen to host the event in July as it is the height of the peak season. The timing, Askara hopes, will mean that more international tourists and domestic visitors will be able to attend the event.

The 3-day festival will feature art and cultural performances from some of Buleleng Regency’s best creative talent. The festival will also include a food village showcasing some of the finest culinary delights the area has to offer.
Askara and his teams are hopeful that July’s Lovfest will be a chance for Lovina to reintroduce itself to the tourism industry.
While much of Bali’s tourism sector has recovered from the impacts of the pandemic, traditionally less busy tourism destinations like Lovina were noticeably slower to recover.

Askara continued, “Of course, this is an arts and cultural event that we will show to our tourist guests which we will make a fixed agenda every year so that later in the next high season, they can come back again and even invite their families and relatives here.”
During his conversations with the press, Askara only confirmed that Lovfest would be returning in July this year. The event schedule, headline acts, and ticket information have yet to be announced.
Details will be shared in due course, but it promises to be a fun and friendly cultural event. It is certainly set to be a highlight for the events calendar in North Bali.
Lovina as a destination is often overlooked by international tourists in favor of the busier resort areas down in the south of the island, like Canggu, Nusa Dun, and Seminyak. Lovina, however, has a lot to offer.
Perfect for young families looking for a classic beach vacation and ideal for budget-conscious backpackers seeking to stay as long as possible in paradise, Lovina is a treat.
One of the most popular activities for tourists in Lovina is dolphin watching. The resident pod of spinner dolphins can be seen almost every day in the waters off Lovina Beach.
In recent months tour operators and fishermen in the area have agreed to work with the Tourism Board to create a series of standard operating procedures to ensure that the dolphins are kept safe during tours.
The decision came as tour providers were all offering different rates for the dolphin-watching experiences, causing unfair competition, and as videos on social media showed some boat operators chasing the dolphins for a sighting.
The busiest time of day on the water is sunrise. However, tourists can get just as good (sometimes better!) sightings later in the day when the morning rush of boats has headed back to land.
