After three delays because there was no lawyer accompanying him, defendant Callum James Park (31) attended his first virtual trial from his boarding house in Kuta yesterday (4/2). The British citizen who worked as an oil technician was arrested four months ago for possession of 11.84 grams of methamphetamine and 5.57 grams of ecstasy.

Callum purchased the illegal drugs from a dealer on Jalan Poppies, Kuta, for USD 2,000 (IDR 29 mil)

In the indictment of Prosecutor M. Anugrah Agung Saputra Faizal, it was explained that the defendant went to Kuta Beach on August 25/20, when an unknown man approached him in front of the Alleycats Restaurant offering narcotics.

“The defendant accepted the offer and purchased 14 packages of methamphetamine and 15 pcs of ecstasy that evening,” said Prosecutor Faizal.

The defendant used pound sterling currency to complete the transaction, costing him £1,500.

After obtaining the drugs, the suspect decided to go back to his residence to consume the drugs by himself.

Following investigations, police arrested Callum on the night of Sept 1/20, along with the evidence at his boarding house.

The defendant’s actions were regulated and punishable under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of the Narcotics Law, Article 112 Paragraph (2), and Article 127 Paragraph (1) Sub-Paragraph a of the same Law.

On the prosecution’s indictment, the defendant who was accompanied by lawyer Aji Silaban did not file an exception. Judge Esthar Oktavi will continue the trial next week with an agenda of evidence.
