While Bali’s Canggu may be the most in-demand tourism resort right now, neighbouring Seseh is still largely undiscovered by the masses.
For those who remember Canggu only ten years ago, Seseh feels like a step back in time to a slower pace of island life.

Loved by slow living expats, creative digital nomads, and tourists looking to slow down on vacation, Seseh is the perfect place to meet new people, let the creative juices flow, and let the body rest and recharge.
If you’re of the belief that a life of balance is best experienced as a sunrise run and a sunset cold beer and sourdough pizza, the Seseh is the place for you. Be sure to swing by the OG neighborhood pizza spot Seseh Pizza; the Bolognese Pizza is next level.
In terms of sunrise coffee, whether pre- or post-run or surf, there are plenty of buzzy community-backed spots to choose from.
Like-minded runners can be found at FLOWERBOY, which overlooks an ever verdant rice terrace, and if you really want to fit in with the cool kids, be sure to scoop up some FLOWERBOY merch while you’re there.
The FLOWERBOY Run Club sets off for a 5km and 10km route every Wednesday and Saturday from 6 am; just so up. If coffee’s not your vibe, then there’s plenty of kombucha to go around, as well as matcha and even locally brewed craft beers.
Everything in Seseh is small and understated. There are hopes by many that the low-key feel will be maintained even as interest in Seseh starts to grow. Dog lovers missing their pups back at home will surely find some friendly faces to befriend at Seseh General Store, where all-day breakfasts, wraps, tastes, sandwiches, salads, and pasties are served from early til late.
Those seeking a total retreat and reset while on vacation in Seseh must stop by, or even check in to Udara Bali Yoga Detox & Spa. Regarded as one of the best wellness facilities in Badung Regency, this space welcomes a regular crowd of international residents and many visitors who have traveled half the world just to experience the facilities and open-hearted hospitality.
Whether moving to the Seseh area as a digital nomad or expat, dropping by as a slow traveler, or swinging through as a holidaymaker, the program on offer at Udara Bali is filled with opportunities to connect, rejuvenate, and rest.
Popular sessions include the Sacred Sounds of Surya, a regularly hosted sound healing workshop hosted in Udara’s Quantum Sound Dome.
Seasonal workshops and events inspired by the moon cycles are also a regular feature on Udara’s events schedule.

Drop-in yoga classes are available multiple times daily, offering a range of yoga styles. Guests can give aerial yoga a go, embark on a classic vinyasa practice, or attend a traditional hatha session.
Drop-in sessions start from as little as IDR 150,000 but must be booked online in advance, via the Udara website.

What makes Seseh so special is its black sand beach. Located just a stone’s throw from the bustling heart of Canggu, Seseh Beach is far quieter and far more dramatic.
Though the high waves and strong current make it ill-advised to swim at any of Seseh’s beaches, the expanses of sand are perfect for a solo yoga session or an afternoon of reading in the sunshine.

Accommodation is aplenty in Seseh, though big hotels and resorts have yet to make their mark here. This makes Seseh ideal for tourists seeking to enjoy a self-led vacation, with a private villa or local guest-house stay.
Dune Seseh offers stylish and minimalist modern villas in the heart of the neighbourhood. Tamu Seseh offers guest pool access and paddy field views, and Sejuk Beach Villas offer a luxurious getaway, complete with an in-house organic restaurant just steps from the Seseh Beach shoreline.
