Bali’s Turyapada Tower is set to become one of the island’s biggest attractions. Built originally as a new communications tower for the north, central, and western regions of the island, leaders have been keen to develop Turyapada Tower into a top tourist attraction.

The Turyapada Tower is 115m in height and stands at 1,636m above sea level, making it only 6m shorter than the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue at the GWK Cultural Park down on the Bukit.

The first phase of the project, which saw the creation of the telecommunications infrastructure and basic tourist infrastructure, cost IDR 418 billion to create and was designed first and foremost to combat communications black zones in Karangasem Regency, Buleleng Regency, and Jembrana Regency.

Leaders in Bali have already spoken about how they want to see the Turyapada Tower become as synonymous with Bali as the Eiffel Tower is to France and the Tokyo Tower is to Japan.

The project is now entering the second phase of development, and the site has received a personal visit from Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster. He has issued firm orders that this second phase of construction must be completed on time.

He told reporters, “I ask for it to be on time, but the quality must not be compromised. This is not an ordinary building, but an icon.” The second phase is reported to be 45% complete and moving according to schedule.

He targets all construction work to be completed by the end of November 2026, followed by the final preparation phase for the official inauguration in December 2026.

During his visit, Governor Koster inspected several work areas, including communal areas, gondola tracks and terminals, as well as the glamping zone, exhibition spaces, and a telecommunications museum.

The Tuyrapada Tower is set to become a destination in its own right that will blend technology and culture, according to the Bali Provincial Government, which will manage the site as a destination.

Experiences will include a planetarium, skywalk, 360-degree revolving restaurant, and the Museum of Balinese Cultural Excellence, as well as the telecommunications museum, aerial gondola ride, glamping resort, and gardens.

The Bali Provincial Government has been keen to ensure that the landscaping is on point, including the path to the parking area and connectivity between the terminal and the gondola waiting area. Located in Bedugul, the Turyapada Tower sits in one of the most green and well-preserved areas of Bali.

During his visit, Governor Koster emphasized the importance of consistent use of high-quality materials in all elements of the development, as well as the use of local flower and plant species to decorate the surrounding area. He noted, “We must consistently use quality materials and design them well, so this tower will be far superior to any other in the world.”

He revealed a little more about what tourists can expect from the Turyapada Tower and Park once everything is completed.

Governor Koster explained, “In the outdoor area, visitors will be treated to flower gardens, fruit gardens, children’s playgrounds, and outbound rides such as flying foxes. To support access, a parking area of approximately one hectare and a 1.4-kilometer gondola connecting the parking area to the tower are provided.”
