The new initiative called The Green Jimbaran Concept is being spearheaded by the CEO of Jimbaran Hijau and founder of JIMBAFEST, Putu Agung Prianta. He spoke with reporters to explain that Jimbaran and the Nusa Dua Hill area are typically dry, water-deficient, and hot areas.

By introducing The Green Jimbaran Concept, Prianta, and his partners are hoping to plant trees, shrubs, and gardens to help re-green the region, bringing a wealth of environmental benefits and improving the surroundings for tourists.

Prianta told reporters, “We continue to try our best to green Jimbaran; we target Jimbaran as a green tourism center and quality tourism in Bali.” The Green Jimbaran Concept project will be developed as a collaboration between tourism operators, artists, and local residents.

JIMBAFEST 2024 was celebrated over the weekend, bringing together local artists, musicians, dancers, and cultural leaders.

One of the stand-out exhibitions at the festival was ‘Crisis’ by Yudha Bantono, and due to its popularity, will remain open to the public through November.

Bantono told reporters that the exhibition raises critical issues related to the environmental, cultural, and humanitarian crises currently affecting Bali and the world.

The artist told reporters, “Bali is not doing well. The crisis theme that we are raising actually describes the global situation. When we talk about the crisis in Bali, we also voice similar conditions that are happening in other parts of the world.”

The exhibition also presents around 70 works of art from local and international artists, including sculpture installations, paintings, video art, and contemporary art that symbolically depicts the issue of environmental crisis.

Artists from Indonesia who were involved included Made Wianta, Made Bayak, Gilang Propagila, Jango Pramartha, Wayan Upadana, and Arkiv Vilmansa. International creators and artists featured in the exhibition include Paul Trinidad, Jon Terry, Jeremy Blank, Antony Muia, and Vladimir Todorovic, as well as Stephan Spicher from Switzerland.

Bantono concluded, “Through these works, it is hoped that the wider public can understand the meaning behind the artist’s actions and respond to global situations that are not always visible but have significant impacts.”

While Jimbaran balances out creating a greener, more positive future and communicating the needs of a changing world, top hotels in the area are also doing their part to help re-green the resort.
