Bali is still reeling from being included on a recent No List for travel in 2025.
While there are certain parts of the island that feel busier and more crowded than in years gone by, it is undeniable that Bali is one of the world’s finest travel destinations, and the province has plenty of evidence to prove it.
2024 has been a big year for Bali and Bali’s leading tourism businesses on the international travel awards circuit.
Wonderful Indonesia, Indonesia’s national tourism board, has rounded up all the awards that Bali, and the country more broadly, has won this year. Unsurprisingly, the world’s most iconic travel destination has racked up some pretty big wins, and there will be more to come as December and the New Year approaches.
Wonderful Indonesia says, “2024 has been a proud year for Indonesia! It has been an incredible honor for Wonderful Indonesia to receive global recognition throughout 2024.”
“These awards reflect the world’s love of Indonesia, with Bali standing out as a shining star, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, cultural richness, and exceptional hospitality.”
At the World Travel Awards, notably one of the most highly respect industry awards, Bali and its credible hotels won big in 2024. Bali was ranked as Asia’s Most Romantic Destination once again, retaining its title from 2019 for a sixth consecutive year.
Melia Bali came out on top at the World Travel Awards as Asia’s Leading All Inclusive Resort in 2024 for the third year in a row. Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach, a firm favorite with travelers from around the world, was named Asia’s leading Family Resort in 2024 at the World Travel Awards too.
Notable mentions must also be given to Jumeirah Bali, which ranked as Asia’s Leading Villa & Resort in 2024, and the iconic Waterbom in Kuta, who were ranked as Asia’s Leading Water Park in 2024.
One of the biggest wins of the year for Bali came earlier this month at the United National World Tourism Organization Best Tourism Village in the World Awards.
The stunning Jatiluwih Village was named one of fifty winners, and there are hopes that the accolade will help raise awareness of sustainable tourism in Bali.
Bangli Regency’s Penglipuran Village previously won Best Tourism Village of the Year, and the win helped boost the authentic Balinese village onto the world stage.
Jatilwuih is braced and ready for the benefits of the win and was, in fact, not the only Indonesian village to make the final list.
Desa Wukirsari, in East Java, also earned a highly coveted place on the list and is an itinerary must for tourists planning to visit Java in 2025.
At the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2024, Indonesians won in some exciting categories. Ubud Gastronomy won the ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award, and it’s easy to see why!
While Ubud is known as the arts and culture capital of Bali, the food scene in Ubud is seriously at the next level. If reminded in 2024, Elizabeth Gilbert would have been able to Eat, Pray, and Love in Ubud alone!
Other big wins at the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2024 included the Green Hotel Awards for 101 Bali Fontana, Capella Ubud, and Plataran Menjangan in West Bali National Park.
For travelers, the biggest awards of the year were at the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, and of course, Bali won big once again.
As voted for by the world’s most esteemed travelers, Bali’s charm is everlasting, no matter what the haters might say.
Big wins at the T+L Awards were Bali’s placement as the third Best Island to Visit Around the World and third Best Island in Asia. Ubud was ranked as the 7th best city in Asia too.
Hotels praised by T+L readers and included in the Top 100 Best Hotels in the World were Capella Ubud in 12th, St Regis Bali Resort in 27th place, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak in 46th, followed by The Laguna Luxury Collection Resort and Spa is in 59th place, and Alila Villas is in Uluwatu in 97th place.
Bali’s big wins are still being counted up as the Christmas and New Year holidays are just around the corner. Bali is a world-class travel destination and will continue to go from strength to strength in 2025.
