Bali’s less-explored regions have a great deal to offer tourists. While areas like Badung Regency welcome the highest number of visitors every year, Bangli Regency, arguably, sees notably fewer tourists, yet has even more to offer.

This week, tourism leaders across Bali have been emphasizing their assurances that the province is a safe and welcoming destination for tourists.
As protests and demonstrations were carried out across major cities in Indonesia, including in Denpasar, from 28th August through the night og the 31st August, with some demonstrations still ongoing, leaders have been vocal about their concerns for the knock-on effect on tourism.
Areas like Bangli Regency have so much to offer tourists and are already working to attract more visitors to the area. However, in light of the recent political tensions, leaders in Bangli are concerned that tourist arrivals will decline in the next few weeks and months.
It is also worth noting that Bali is entering the low season. Every year, there is a sharp decline in the number of international tourist arrivals between September and early December, before there is a sharp spike in arrivals over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Head of the Bangli Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Wayan Dirgayusa, told reporters, “Of course, there are concerns. Based on our experience, whenever there’s social unrest, instability, or security issues, it always results in a decline in tourist visits, including in Bangli.”
He told reporters that there have been no major changes in visitor numbers as of yet, but that the seasonal changes are being felt. He noted, “According to our data, visits have indeed decreased, and that was before the demonstration.”
Diragayusa added, “Generally, Bangli is still safe. Penglipuran, for example, which is quite far from the demonstration site, is very safe to visit.” According to the latest travel data for Bali Province, issued by the Central Statistics Agency, there have been a cumulative 3.98 million international tourist visits to Bali between January and July. The highest number of visitors arrived in July, a total of 697,110 people.
September through to early December is a great time for tourists to visit Bali. Not only are the island’s top attractions less crowded, but accommodation room rates are usually cheaper too. This is a great time of year to seek out accommodation deals and promotional rates in all areas of the province, not just Bangli.

Tourists looking for a crowd-free and culture-rich destination to explore in Bali, Bangli Regency is a great spot to choose.
From Penglipuran Village to the waterfalls and ravines, through to the foothills of Kintamani, this is an area of Bali home to sites of deep cultural significance and natural beauty.

The most famous tourist attraction in Bangli Regency is Penglipuran Village. Over the last few years, the village has been named amongst the best tourism villages in the world by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and is a must-visit for anyone interested in Balinese culture.
Pengliuran Village is one of the last remaining fully pedestrianised villages in Bali and is surrounded by an ancient bamboo forest.

For those seeking a little more of a nature-inspired adventure in Bangli Regency, a trip to Kintamani is surely in order. This area of Bali spans around Mount Batur and Lake Batur and is home to stunning panoramic viewpoints and dozens of eco-tourism and agro-tourism projects.
During day trips to Kintamani, tourists can not only take in views of Bali’s sacred peaks but also learn about coffee farming, citrus growing, and the rural way of life on the island.
