Bali Reopening To Foreign Tourists Delayed

Important Update: The reopening of Bali to foreign tourists has been delayed as the island continue to battle with the pandemic.

The Bali Governor signed Decree Number 3355 of 2020 concerning the New Era of Life Order Protocol which regulates the reopening of the Bali economy.

The decree states that the third stage will carry out broad tourism activities including reopening Bali for international tourism.

The announcement was made at the end of a mass prayer in Bali to ask for the permission, blessing, guidance, and protection of God.

“For this reason, we surrender completely and sincerely, while pleading with Him to be pleased to give the best gift to all of us,” Koster said after the worship of Pemahayu Jagad in Pura Besakih.

Koster announced in the new decree that there will be three phases to the reopening of Bali’s economy.

Three Stages of Bali Reopening For Tourism

The first phase: July 9th, 2020

Businesses will begin to reopen to the local people in Bali.

According to the direction of the National Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19, the first stage will allow for the following businesses to operate:

  • health services
  • government offices
  • customs and religion
  • finance
  • trade
  • logistics
  • transportation
  • cooperatives
  • traditional markets
  • modern markets
  • restaurants and stalls
  •  agriculture
  • plantations
  • marine
  • fisheries
  • construction

Note: Tourism attractions will not reopen until phase 2.

The second phase: July 31st, 2020

Bali will reopen the island to all domestic tourists. Indonesian tourists will be able to travel to the island for the purpose of tourism.

All tourism activities, tours and attractions will reopen.

The Third Phase: September 11th, 2020 (Delayed)

Originally scheduled for September 11th, 2020, the reopening of Bali to foreign tourists has been delayed

No further details have been released if Bali will be open to all countries or if testing will be required.

The decree was officially signed by the Bali Governor on Sunday morning July 5th, 2020.

He closed the ceremony with the following statement.

“I ask all Bali manners to carry out activities in these three stages by applying the New Era of Life Order Protocol in an orderly, disciplined, and with a full sense of responsibility, such as: always wearing a mask / face shield, keeping a distance, not crowding, diligently washing hands, and Clean and Healthy Behavior, as well as maintaining endurance”

Note* The reopening date could be pushed forward or back depending on the spread of Covid-19 In Bali.

The Bali economy has been devastated by the covid-19 pandemic and the announcement of the ‘New Era of Life Order’ will come as a huge relief to locals who have been out of work since March when the island was closed to tourists.
