The Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) from Udayana University has provided a mandarin training program for all Tanah Lot Temple workers.
The Director of TCI, I Made Sendra confirmed that a mandarin training program was initiated to improve the quality of service of the Tanah Lot Temple’s workers before an influx of international visitors arrive. Bali has officially reopened its border to selected countries, including China, which had the largest number of visitors to the Tanah Lot Temple prior to the pandemic.
During the training program that went on from October 8th to November 5th, 2021, a total of 30 workers from several different divisions took part in a class that took place at the town hall which is located near the Tanah Lot Temple. Sendra hopes that this program will help the tourism workers improve their skill set before finally receiving tourists again very soon.
“We really hope that the travel bubble program that was implemented on October 14th will revive Bali’s tourism,” Sendra said. Meanwhile the operations manager at the Tanah Lot Temple, Agus Tika said that he appreciates this program as they had been waiting for the officials to provide a similar program that would help improve the service quality for Tanah Lot’s visitors.

Can people on here be happy for once that Balinese are learning a different language other than English to cater certain tourists?? Seriously...you folks either hate the Chinese or not willing to see the future of Bali. Guess what Bali does not always revolve around English speakers...

Tourism will benefit the rich but keep the poor…poor. Teaching Balinese children Mandarin, massage, bed making , driving the bus, seriously !! Bali officials invite foreign “ digital nomads” but train no Balinese children in skills beyond scrubbing toilets for Chinese day-trippers. This is not a viable plan for the future. It’s a desperate cry from the Beer Sellers and Hotel Bed Renters to start putting money in their foreign banks accounts.

@J West, Do you see Thais willing to learn a foreign language to cater to foreign tourist? None whatsoever...it's the language of sex tourism and massages. That's sad like it or not.

Does this mean that Bali will cater mostly to visitors from China in the future? That seems like a terrible idea to me: you will get visitors that spend nothing locally, make a mess of the place, and discourage others to visit.
To some degree this was already happening to places like Lembongan and Penida, but if this carries over to the actual island of Bali i fear the future will be bleek.

@Ellen, you agree that it is because Balinese should remain loyal to the Anglo-Saxons speakers. Are you an expert to as to how Bali should evolve or make improvement from the ongoing pandemic?? Probably not...lots of talks and no actions.
