Bali has recorded its highest single day jump in confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
Bali Covid-19 Taskforce Chairman Dewa Made Indra stated on Friday that there were an additional 23 patients who tested positive for the virus.
“These 23 people are Indonesian citizens consisting of 12 Indonesian Migrant Workers and 11 people who have been infected by local transmission,” Dewa Indra said in his daily briefing.
The announcement confirms a new one day record for the highest increase in positive Covid-19 cases for a single day.
The total number of patients that have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began in Bali stands at 443.
Of the 443 patients, 320 people have been declared recovered. The total number of death from Covid-19 in Bali stands at 4 consisting of 2 Indonesians and 2 foreigners.
Dewa Indra pleaded with the public to maintain being disciplined in the protocols set out by the government.
“Wear a mask, wash your hands, avoid large crowds and keep your body healthy,” explained Indra.
The record number of positive cases is a setback for Bali after the Indonesian President said yesterday that reopening Bali too fast could harm tourism in the long run.
President Joko Widodo today said Indonesia shouldn’t reopen “in haste” while emphasizing the importance of establishing strict health protocols before welcoming both domestic and international travelers.
