The Vice Mayor of Denpasar, I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa, confirmed that the restoration of Sanur Beach would occur in preparation for the G-20 Conference.

“Over USD $1.9 million was prepared for the second phase of the Sanur Beach restoration project. This is part of our efforts to optimize its potential in the tourism sector,” Wibawa said during his inspection in Sanur on Friday (15/4).

This project will restore over 5.8 km of the Sanur coastline and create a proper pedestrian side lane, a cyclist side lane, and better restrooms.

“We will create a better environment so that Sanur can compete with other tourist attractions in the island, especially in light of the delegations of the G-20 Conference who are scheduled to attend the forum on October,” Wibawa added.

Wibawa also proposed that all the hotel owners along the beach area install two CCTV cameras that will be connected with the Command Center of the Denpasar city government.

The project is scheduled to start by May, and it will take 6 months to finish. Meanwhile, the Head of Denpasar Social Office, I Gusti Ayu Laxmy Saraswaty, asked the government to organize better layouts for shops in the area to support the local businesses.

They've got to drop the visa requirements for Australians before I would consider going back. I love Bali but...

@Wayan Bo, A short term schengen multiple entry visa cost 60 Euro or more for those who need to apply. Look it up. If you claim to live long enough in Indonesia you certainly do not have a room of empathy towards them.

@Les, VOA at $35 is too much to handle? Put yourself in their shoes when they need to apply an Aussie Evisa it's more than $35 bucks.

Not easy to navigate the existing bike path along the beach: Too narrow and a lot of overcrowding as semi permanent buildings have been allowed in the beach zone. If existing path shall be made wider this will require substantial amount of materials (rocks, concrete) and workforce.

Good to hear, noticed recycle bins on the beach along with the new cycle path thats recently been completed. The new port for the boat trips to Nusa Penida and Lembongan is coming along nicely also. People having to wade waist deep to board the boats will soon be a thing of the past. On a negative note though poisoning all the beach dogs and subsequently many pets has been horrible to see. Seeing dead dogs including puppies on the beach is a difficult sight to see. They could have dealt with this in a more humane way. As a dog lover who has 2 dogs who walks regulary on the beach and knew, fed many of the dogs. This has left me disgusted and angry.

@Harry EISERMANN, to add many pets have been poisoned also. Leaving poisoned meat balls all over the beach has killed many family pets also. If you think this is the best way to deal with stray dogs then you must be a dog hater.

@Harry EISERMANN, Euthanizing is more humane than a painful horrible death from poisoning. Maybe you've never heard of it.
