Bali Airport has confirmed that normal flight service has resumed after a week of global travel chaos due to the conflict in the Middle East. In Bali, thousands of passengers were impacted by flight cancellations and delays, though globally millions of travellers were impacted, with some still trying to find their way back home.

One of the worst-affected routes from Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was the Emirates Dubai-Denpasar daily service. Overall, in the last week, 64 services were affected by airspace closures in the Middle East.
The Communication and Legal Division Head of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, has confirmed to the reporter that “We can also inform you that Emirates Airlines has returned to service an aircraft that had been undergoing a ground stop at Ngurah Rai Airport since February 28.”
“This flight is Emirates’ first from Denpasar to Dubai after Dubai International Airport gradually resumed flight operations.”
Other services badly affected were routes from Abu Dhabi and Doha. Either has confirmed that a limited service to Bali has resumed.
Asmadi told reporters that he and his teams will continue to work around the clock in collaboration with airlines, AirNav Indonesia, and security personnel to monitor developments in the airspace in the Middle East. He concluded, “We also urge prospective passengers to continue communicating with their airlines for updated flight schedule information.”
Tourists set to travel to or from Bali in the coming weeks via the Middle East are urged to ensure that they have fully comprehensive travel insurance and understand what is and is not covered in the event of an emergency, such as was seen last week.
Tourists are advised to continue to check in regularly with their airline, Bali Airport, and the foreign office for updates on flights and travel advice. The conflict in the Middle East is reported as likely to continue for at least a few more weeks, and the impact on international travel could change at a moment’s notice.
Leaders in Indonesia have spoken to the media about Bali tourism and the conflict in the Middle East. Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, told reporters that Bali and Indonesia will remain a safe place to travel and that the country’s international airports will remain available to support commercial aircraft that have had to be rerouted.
When asked about the impact on tourist arrivals, Ni Luh Puspa noted that nationally, the most frequent international arrivals hail from Malaysia and Singapore, though for Bali specifically, this is typically Australia and China.

She explained, “This means our largest [flight] routes still go through Malaysia and Singapore. And we see that we’re quite well connected, and our seat capacity is also well maintained, at around 26 million seats. And we hope this will create alternative options for foreign tourists to enter Indonesia,”
Ni Luh Puspa told reporters that it is Indonesia’s overall safety rating that makes it one of the most appealing travel destinations for tourists in 2026. In fact, Bali has been ranked as the best destination in the world by TripAdvisor for 2026. She explained, “I think that’s one of our strengths and one of our opportunities. Indonesia is the best option we have to visit.”

“But this also presents challenges. We don’t want to let people flock to us. So, there are always opportunities, but there are also always challenges. We must work together to maintain this.”
“We are still waiting for the situation and conditions to be determined. We are continuing to monitor the situation.”

She concluded, “I think we’re safe enough, stable enough, and optimistic enough that despite the war in the Middle East, we’ll still be stable enough to attract tourists to Indonesia.”
According to The Bali Sun Traveler Safety Index, Bali is currently ranking at a stable 83, with reports of scams being the most widely reported safety issue by tourists in the last 30 days.
