15 Bali cruise ship workers filed a report to Bali Police after being cheated by an illegal company that promised them work overseas.
The lawyer of those victims, Nengah Yasa Adi Susanto confirmed that they filed a lawsuit against a company called Dunia Insani Mandiri, Ltd (PT DIM) that was later recognized as an unregistered company on Tuesday (18/5). “We decided to file a lawsuit as our previous approaches have been neglected by the director of the company that was identified as Ira.” Susanto said.
Previously Susanto and all the victims attempted to find a solution regarding this problem with this company which is located on Jalan Muding Batu Sangiang, Kerobokan, Badung. Ira promised them to refund their registration fees that were paid for over a year ago. “All of our clients have paid registration fees with a total amount of USD 27,800 (IDR 403 million) to the company as they promised them work on luxurious cruise ships like the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.” Susanto added.
Prior to the incident, the fake company tried to attract people by putting job advertisements through social media accounts with the name @manningagentkapalpesiar. But apparently after over 1 year of registration the company still hasn’t made any attempts to interview the workers, which led the applicants to become suspicious. Meanwhile, as the lawsuit was being filed by Susanto, The director of the fake company suddenly disappeared and is yet to be reached. Officers from the Bali Police Department began their investigation and will try to find everyone who was involved in this incident.
