Officials from Badung regional government have said that they will distribute Covid-19 vaccines to the people who live within the tourism areas of the district. They plan on starting the campaign in April in an effort to expedite the reopening for international tourists.
In support of the president’s plan to reopen the international travel corridor this year, the Regional Secretary of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa said that he will prioritize three areas in Badung: Jimbaran, Benoa, and Tanjung Benoa, to receive the vaccines.
“In order to accelerate this program, I plan to start the vaccination process by April 1st, 2021,” said Arnawa during a meeting on Thursday (18/3).
The meeting that was initiated to discuss the vaccination campaign was attended by several government officials including the Economic and Development Assistance, General Administration Assistance, Head of Tourism Agency, Head of Kuta Sub-District, and the Head of South Kuta Sub-District.
“I hope all the government officials in all these regions will participate by providing all the facilities needed to run this vaccination program” Arnawa added.
Arnawa is optimistic that this program will bring tourism back to Bali as the island gains trust from the international for its progress in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. “As a district that almost completely relies on tourism, we’re optimistic that this will eventually bring positive impact to Badung, so the economic situation will be revived soon” Arnawa concluded.
