A car with 9 passengers has plunged into a 35 meter deep ravine on Thursday afternoon (30/9).
The Coordinator of Karangasem Search and Rescue, Gusti Ngurah Eka Widnyana confirmed that an incident occurred in Bugbug Village Karangasem on Thursday around 1:00pm, causing a car with 9 passengers inside to plunge into a ravine. “The driver was unable to control the vehicle due to brake failure, causing one of the passengers to die from severe injury.” Widnyana said on Thursday.
The victims that were identified as Ketut Nese Masdika, Ni Ketut Budiani, Luh Kartini, Luh Putu Apriliani, Ni Nyoman Sriasih, Nyoman Widasni and Luh Desi Sutami survived with minor injury while Kadek Suyastri was hospitalized due to her serious injuries and Ni Luh Eka Rini has unfortunately died from the incident. One of the villagers named Gede Astawa attempted to help the victims when he spotted the car at the bottom of the ravine as he passed by.
Meanwhile the Head of Karangasem Disaster Management (BPBD), IB ketut Arimbawa confirmed that when all the victims were evacuated, the victims with minor injury were rushed to nearby clinic while the victims that suffered serious injury were rushed to the Karangasem Public Hospital to receive more in depth medical attention.
