One of Bali’s most famous beach clubs is under threat of temporary closure notices.
The Bali Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) has requested that Finns Beach Club be temporarily closed until it has completed its permit and license processes in full.

Speaking to the media the Chairman of Commission I of the Bali DPRD, I Nyoman Budiutama, explained “We recommend temporarily closing activities at Finns Beach Club while waiting for the resolution from the legal and administrative teams.” A working meeting was held on Thursday 13th February, attended by officials from the Bali DPRD and Finns Beach Club management.
On 22nd November 2024, the Bali Provincial Government issued a warning notice to Finns Beach Club to complete its business permits.
The letter and warning was issued by the Integrated Development Development and Supervision Team (TP3) of Bali Province by sending a written reprimand through a letter numbered Β.27.500.13/6238/ICIN/DPMPTSP dated November 22, 2024. The reprimand was signed by the Head of TP3 Bali Province Dewa Made Indra.
The venue drew huge criticism in October 2024 after conducting a fireworks display as the local Balinese Hindu community was conducting a religious ceremony on Berawa Beach in front of the club.
Though the company issued a public apology and dealt with local political leaders and Bali Police, the business has been under ‘supervision’ ever since. Concerns were raised by public officials that the venue has been permitted to continue operations despite a number of permit and licensing violations.
Speaking to the media after the meeting the Community Director of Finns Beach Club, Wayan Asrama, has now confirmed that it was ‘purely due to negligence’ that led to the disruption and offense.
Asrama noted, “We also always coordinate with local traditional villages and support people who perform traditional ceremonies. We have also coordinated with the families who held the ceremony and held the banten [offerings] as a form of apology.”
He confirmed that he and his teams are still completing business permit documents. The process has been delayed due to the completion of an environmental impact assessment, known as an AMDAL, which takes a long time to conduct in full.
Asrama told reporters “Because we are Foreign Investment (PMA), our licensing is processed in Jakarta. We have not been able to confirm when it will be completed because we are still waiting for the trial and the process is quite long.”
Budiutama revealed to the press, “Based on these considerations [discussed in the meeting], we recommend temporarily closing activities at Finns Beach Club while waiting for the legal and administrative process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. We ask Satpol PP to secure what is recommended by the Bali DPRD starting today (13/02/25).”

This is not the first time that the famous Canggu Beach Club has hit headlines this week. On Wednesday, February 12th, footage went viral on social media of a brawl between Finns security staff and a group of five men who had been guests at the venue. Four security guards were left injured in the altercation, and footage from the fight has sparked a series of debates online.
Speaking to reporters, Badung Police’s Head of Public Relations, Ipda I Putu Sukarma, explained, “The conflict occurred because the foreigner nudged a woman sitting on the table daybed 402.”
The conflict is reported to have escalated and the men in question are reported to have failed to cooperate with Finns security staff, who then proceeded to remove the men from the venue forcibly.

He added, “These foreign nationals beat the victim not only with their bare hands but also with wood and other hard objects. After beating the victim, the five white men fled the scene. Officers in the field are still pursuing them.”

Finns Beach Club’s legal representative, Kadek Duarsa shared “We will follow up on the incident that befell the security at Finns, and hope that tourists who come to Bali will not act carelessly. We will confirm with the North Kuta Police regarding the follow-up to this case, this case must be processed legally, we hope that the foreign nationals who carried out the assault will be arrested.”
