TransNusa Airlines has just announced that it will be launching a new international flight route connecting Australian holidaymakers with Bali. The new Denpasar – Perth flight schedule will launch in early 2025.
TransNusa Airlines is making a name for itself in the international travel market. With airlines like Jetstar, AirAsia, and Virgin Australia dominating the Australia-Bali flight space, the addition of the new TransNusa Airlines flight service offers yet even more choice for tourists, especially those on a modest budget.
There are hopes that the new service will not only help more Australian tourists visit Bali but also offer up the opportunity for more Indonesian tourists to explore all that Western Australia has to offer.
In a press statement, the President Director of TransNusa, Bayu Sutanto, shared, “We are very enthusiastic and proud to introduce this Denpasar-Perth route. This route is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector of both countries as well as being a proof of our focus and capability in the international eye.”
The airline has undergone a period of rapid growth over the last two years, and the upcoming launch of the new Denpasar-Perth route marks a huge milestone for the company. Sutanto added, “We are committed to continuing to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable flight services for all passengers.”
The service will launch on 20th March 2025, and tickets are on sale now. Each flight will have just 174 available seats, and ticket fares are currently starting at IDR 1,799,999 one way. Flights with TransNusa also include free baggage up to 15kg.
The Denpasar-Perth route with TransNusa will operate three times weekly during the first few weeks of the launch. The flight will operate Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. As of 12th April 2024, as demand for travel between the two destinations typically sees an upsurge, a fourth service will be added every Tuesday.
The Denpasar-Perth route will depart I Gusti Ngurah Rai at 9.10am WITA, landing in Perth at 12.50pm local time. The Perth-Denpasar route will take off at 1.35pm local time, landing in Denpasar at 5.20pm WITA.
The TransNusa Perth-Denpasar service is not the only new flight route to be added to the scheduled at I Gusti Ngurah Rai this year so far. Just last week AirAsia Indonesian announced the launch of its new Darwin-Denpasar flight which is also scheduled to start in March 2025. The route offers 1,000 seats a week to passengers traveling between Darwin and Bali, and tickets will start at just AUD 189.
The AirAsia Darwin-Denpasar flight service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with the first flight departing Denpasar on Saturday, 22nd March.
The outbound Denpasar – Darwin service will be known by flight number QZ 540 and is scheduled to depart at 11.40 am, touching down in Darwin at 3.55 pm. The inbound service from Perth will operate on flight number QZ 541, departing at 4.35 pm and arriving in Bali at 5.55 pm.
In a press statement, the CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, Veranita Josephine, shared, “Bali is now our largest hub in terms of flight capacity, driven by strong demand. These direct flights will cater to the enduring popularity of Bali as a destination for Australians and offer great low-fare connections to over 130 destinations across the AirAsia Group network.”
The Airport Development Group Executive General Manager, Sandra de Kock, wrote, “Territorians have been calling for more options to fly to Bali, and we’re excited to deliver with the return of AirAsia. Bali has long been the number one holiday destination for Darwin residents, and these flights will undoubtedly see a surge of travelers embarking on their Indonesian adventures.”
Austrlian tourists are the most frequent international arrivals to Bali, and have been for over a decade. In 2024, over 1.5 million Australian passport holders visited Bali, followed by second most frequent visitors from China, who amounted to 563,000. Completing the top three most frequent tourist arrivals to Bali in 2024 were Indian tourists who made 466,000 visits.
