Business Class Seats To Bali Selling Out At Unprecedented Rates

New travel data shows that almost all business class seats available to and from Bali are selling out.

Travel developers in the region are hopeful that this is an indicator that Bali can do more to offer luxury and high-end tourism experiences to an increasingly demanding market.

According to the Commercial Director for Garuda Indonesia, Ade R Susardi, business class, and premium seats are frequently sold out, and many flights are unable to keep up with the demand for high-ticket seats.

He and his teams at Garuda Indonesia are hopeful that this trend will continue, especially as the developments at the Sanur Special Economic Zone, known as The Sanur, will be formally opening the doors in the coming months.

The Sanur will be a dedicated resort area designed for world-class medical and wellness tourism.

Susardi told reporters, “Business class passenger seats are often full. For the domestic routes to Bali per day, there are 10-11 flights [served by Garuda], while for the international route to Bali from Japan, Australia, and South Korea daily, there is [high demand] for flights.”

In early 2025, the new Bali International Hospital will open its doors and will be welcoming privately paying medical tourists and privately paying Indonesian residents for treatment in a range of specialties.

Susardi explained that the increasing demand for business class and premium flights is a positive trend ahead of the new wave of luxury, medical, and wellness tourism opening up in Bali.

He shared, “The number is very promising with the increase of international flights to Bali with this health offer. It is expected to attract foreign and domestic tourists to spend here.”

In addition to The Meru Hotel, the Bali International Hostipatla at The Sanur will have 255 in-patient rooms offering the highest standard of hospitality across two types of rooming, the VIP suites and the presidential suites. There will also be ten recovery rooms for those coming out of surgery.

One aspect of The Sanur that sets the medical tourism offering apart is the integrative services. The services will offer seamless support for tourists coming to The Sanur for medical and/or wellness support.

This starts from airport pick up through to transfers and welcome to the hotel accommodation, ease of hospital check-in and transfers between areas, as integrated support to the complimentary wellness facilities within the resort.

In addition to Bali International Hospital, a series of private clinics will also open in The Sanur, including a fertility clinic and aesthetics clinic, with more to be announced soon.

With the project having received a huge amount of funding, the team behind the project is keen to ensure that as many tourists as possible know about the new development. The Sanur recently sent a promotional team to Bondi Beach in Australia to showcase all that the resort will offer.

The initiative received a warm welcome and plenty of support, with 350 visitors attending The Sanur’s booth at the Indonesia Beach Festival in Sydney on 27th October.

Australian tourists remain the most frequent international holidaymakers in Bali, and many Australian tourists have already integrated health and medical appointments into their annual vacations in Bali.

Typically, dentistry and optometry are the most common medical tourism services sought by international tourists, with Indonesia renowned for its high quality and affordable dental care, as well as affordable glasses and frames.

Moving forward, cardiology, neurology, critical illness, gastroenterology, oncology, and orthopedics will all be on offer at The Sanur and the Bali International Hospital, making it easier than ever for tourists to receive the preventative or elective medical care they need while being supported by an environment conducive to healing and rejuvenation.

Bali International Hospital is now in the testing and operational planning phase of the development, and the latest updates suggest the hospital will be welcoming patients in early 2025.
