Iconic Bali Beach Resort To Welcome Major Improvements For Tourist Enjoyment

A series of major renovation works are underway at the popular beach resort of Jimbaran in South Bali.

The beach is famous with Bali lovers around the world for being home to some of the finest locally run seafood restaurants on the island. 

Over the last few years, Jimbaran has often been overlooked by tourists as a destination for a classic coastal vacation.

This is partly due to the popularity of nearby resorts like Uluwatu and Ungasan soaring but partly because the area started to feel a little tired.

Much like Kuta, Jimbaran was slower to bounce back after the impacts of the pandemic and has often been associated with tides of plastic waste.

While it is true that tides of ocean plastic wash up on Jimbaran Beach, it only happens at specific times of the year, usually around January, and it’s always cleared up quickly.

For the rest of the year, the resort can boast a long, stretching coastal retreat and plenty of luxurious beachfront accommodation too.

Renovations to Jimbaran Beach have been in the pipeline for some time, with the first round of works already completed. The Chairman of the Jimbaran Development Acceleration Team, Anak Agung Bagus Mutiara Arsana Putra, spoke with reporters earlier this week.

He confirmed that these renovation works are part of a big plan to improve rundown areas into spaces that are more representative of the community and that can increase tourist visit to Jimbaran. 

Putra explained, “Jimbaran has the longest wide stretch of beach in the south, while we cannot make the most of it like other villages that get income from tourism activities on the beach.”

The next round of renovations will focus on creating a pedestrian beach walk between the world-famous Cafe 9 and neighboring Muaya Beach.

Similar to the beach walk in Sanur and Nusa Dua, this will make it easier, safer and more enjoyable for tourists to explore the whole of the Jimbaran resort area. 

Putra explained that some of the beachwalks have already been completed. He said, “As part of the initiative of the Badung Regency Government, we have started arranging the beach in Jimbaran, which has been completed in the first stage, along Cafe 9 to the front of Villa Hanani.”

He added, “We hope that Jimbaran can become a clean area and no longer [rundown] so that it can create new jobs for the local community. If this arrangement is successful, we are sure that many people will come and have a positive impact on the Jimbaran community.”

Putra has also confirmed that Cafe 9 will receive a facelift too. He explained that the focus of the improvements is to ‘renovate Cafe 9 to make it more modern, nice and clean.’

Once that phase is complete the next step will be to work on the construction of the pedestrian walkway through to the InterContinental Hotel at Muaya Beach.

Putra is hopeful that these renovation works will increase tourist interest in Jimbaran Beach and provide significant economic benefits for local residents.

Jimbaran Beach offers tourists the perfect beach holiday destination; it is particularly good for tourists seeking an affordable getaway, traveling as a young family, or interested in having a fun resort experience.

Even taking into account traffic congestion, tourists can land in Bali and, once through immigration, can be on Jimbaran Beach with their toes in the sand within 20-minutes. 

Big name hotel brands all call Jimbaran home, including InterContinental, Karma Group, Belmont Hotels, and Le Meridien.
